Has Insua really looked that assured at the back when he's played?Originally posted by AFII View PostInsua should get the chance. He has played a few games in the league so it wouldn't really be a gamble to play him. He hasn't done a single bad game for us so far.
He is our best available option.
Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostAs a bit of man management that would be suicidal. There'd be no way back for Dossena if he was over looked for the game on Monday.
I'd give him another chance. I like Insua, but you can't just kick a player of Dossena's ability into touch like that.
We've got 7 million quid's worth of player who knows that he's got a run of a few games to establish himself. Drop him and we would, I think, see the last of his confidence evaporate.

This next 2-3 weeks are both Dossena and Keane's best chance to stake a claim, they've had a bit of time to settle in, and now they need to take advantage of their teamates misfortune and put in a performance.
I personally feel that Dossena HAS shown the potential, he just needs confidence now and he's got a couple of weeks at Aurelio's expense to build it. The same goes for Robbie Keane, he won't have liked sitting on that bench on Wednesday but its about time he took that frustration with him onto the pitch.
If all goes well, we'll be a stronger team in a month.

Why quote Rage there? Can't really argue with what he says IMO.
Dossena has had plenty of chances to stake a claim but failed pretty miserably. Rafa is ruthless when players are not showing they are good enough, so I fully expect him (Dossena) to be gone in the Summer at the latest."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." I just feel that it is too early to judge the man, he hasn't had a consistent run of games. He now has the chance to play 3(?) consecutive games in Aurelio's absense.Originally posted by looprevil View PostWhy quote Rage there? Can't really argue with what he says IMO.

I guess we'll have a clearer, although not definitive picture after that.
I noticed that your anti-Dossena rhetoric has been quoted by DannyMan2006 as a sig, also. I guess we'll see.
Looprevil:
I just have seen nothing good about Dossena so far. Absolutely nothing in all honesty. I would say it is 7m down the drain and feel 10000% confident that he will not be here next season - you can quote me on that.

If he plays Insua on Monday then we might as well start looking for a new club for Dossena now.
This is a good chance for him to show what he can do. He's been poor so far, hopefully he'll start to turn that round on Monday."My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. I would die for that Liverpool shirt. I think the club loves me and I feel the same, no matter what the situation." - Pepe Reina, Nov '09.

Wrong mate - I have gone on record on more than one occasion sayig that I hope he can turn this round and that he is a good player but in the wrong league, IMO.Originally posted by Pippo View PostI just feel that it is too early to judge the man, he hasn't had a consistent run of games. Fair enough, but the Offal stats say he's only started 7 games this season, its surely still too early to draw any conclusion. Hopefully in three games time it won't even be an issueOriginally posted by looprevil View PostWrong mate - I have gone on record on more than one occasion sayig that I hope he can turn this round and that he is a good player but in the wrong league, IMO.

He's played 5 games for Italy. And he's 27. He's not some rookie who's learning his trade, he should be established and more than capable.Originally posted by -V- View PostI see talent in because before these 2 poor months he has had he built a career as a solid left back who regularly gets in the italian team. What you are failing to understand is that the key problem for Dossena is that he is currently off the pace and short of confidence because he himself knows that.
I watched him close up against Rangers in pre-season and the lad was brilliant. I mean he was brilliant. That goal line clearance he made in that game was unbelievable. He was miles away from the ball and somehow made the most astonishing saving clearance. He also delivered some top quality crosses in that game. So unlike you, i have seen him play very very well for us and i still have hope that he can turn it around. Btw he made a couple of crucial last defender tackles against Marseille
He made a couple of decent tackles against Marseille, but he was also painfully out of his depth on a few occasions and that foul (which Gray was laughably claiming to be inside the box) was a horribly embarrassing example of how poor he's been.

Can't believe someone fell for that
It just goes to show how dangerous idle gossip can be though. One man reads it and takes it as gospel, goes down the pub and tells a few mates about it, they tell a few others in work the next day and before you know it the whole of the Kop knows about it!Last edited by Pablo; 28-11-08, 01:51 PM.
