It don't seem reasonable when you consider that Torres and Gerrard was the best striker partnership in the league. You don't fix something that isn't broken.

We had and still have other positions that we need to strengthen.

I don't have a clue to why Rafa signed Keane for £20m when Owen was available for £4m. That sounds like a bad joke. Two very similar players and one of them was available for one fifth of the price.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think that the best teams in recent years have changed things to get the team to benefit more than individual players (prime example united got rid of RvN to play Saha which benefited the team even though RvN was banging in loads of goals). IMO you need to have 3-4 goal threats in every team you put out to have a chance of winning the league - last year we had two on a regular basis.

Because Owen hasn't lasted a season in years?

Ooh I know, I know, I know...is it because one was the calendar year's leading scorer and virtually never missed a match and the other plays about 7 or 8 games a season on a hugely inflated wage?

        What do I win?

Owen wouldn't play week in week out. You simply don't spend £20m on a backup striker when you don't have that much money to spend.

£7m-£8m, max. Nemeth is the one that should have played instead of Keane, but that is my opinion.

Then Rafa could have signed more creative players on the wings that would give the team more options.

Owen will most probably play 30 games plus this season in all competitions. You can't count his knee and foot injury as injury prone injuries.

That was injuries down to bad luck.

Then he only have the same problem as most of the speed merchants out there playing at the top.

True but maybe then there's an arguement there that you dont want too many "speed merchants" in your squad as they are more prone to being injured?

And injuries or bad luck, it still makes him a potential risky signing, particularly if you are expecting him to play a significant number of games over the course of a season for you.
