Arbeloa was solid and offered something going forward.
Insua made a good league debut Carragher was Carragher.
Babel was **** in the first half but improved in the 2nd when played on the right. Got taken off soon after!
Mascher is seriously off the boil. Is it me or is he pushing further forward and making us play deeper?
Alonso was awesome. Kept possession, set one up and scored one too.
Gerrard looked static in the first half but better going forward in the second.
Benayoun - Frustrating but scored a wicked goal. I wish Pennant would have done this.
Kuyt - Not much service and not enough pace for a lone striker role. Played so much better in the 2nd half with a bit of service!
Reina - Great save from Pedersen and commanded his area well.

    weren't his debut!

got started on at half time by some ****ing oldish man!! for nothing at all!!

    but good day, played well!

It wasn't Insua's debut at all in the league as he's started one game against Portsmouth a couple of years ago.

I'd say Xabi is a better player now than he's ever been, absolute class this season and I just hope the troubles of the summer are firmly past him. Having said that watching the highlights last night, what on earth was Robinson doing for the first goal? Shocking - he literally dived in slo-mo over the ball, which wasn't moving at any great velocity itself! Woeful.

I think he was unsighted by a player and didn't actualy see Xabi strike the ball meaning he had to try and judge his dive as to where he though Xabi would put it.

It just shows what a class player Xabi is that he was able to anticipate all this in a split second and put in a less powerful shot much closer to Robinsons starting position

Agree about Xabi, playing out of his skin. There was one cross field ball about 30 mins in he played to Babel that was just something else.

Phew! That was my reaction to this. It looked to be heading for another boring 0.0 but we picked it up slightly in second half and got the goal, and then looked much better afterwards. I was very frustrated at one stage.

I'm still concerned that we lack a bit of guile in the final third - Kuyt's first touch was deperate today again although his pass to Benni was great, Babel was anonymous, Benni was okay for the most part and the defence was really sound apart from the goal. I like Arbeloa every time I see him play and Insua seemed decent as well, we'll know better when he's playing against a team that really wants to attack us.

                      Alonso was tops for me.

im going to hope that this is a significant game as we were looking really sh1t until we actively picked it up and finished some chances.

the recent experience of doing that in a match is key i think and were we to play fulham and west ham again now, I think we'd have the mindset to seal the victories.

better late than never tho eh...

Yep...absolutely loved Xabi's celebration after his goal.
