    Lucas

It has to be said that Lucas was immense last night. He was all over the pitch, his tackling was outstanding, he didnt waste very much in the way of passes. He was always available for his team mates. It was a shame for him that he couldnt turn in the chance he got at the end of the game, but at least he was full of running and got into that position.

    A few observations.

Lucas last season he seemed to be a little ligthweight in stature, but he seems to have bulked up a little this season and he is much harder to knock off the ball now.

Lucas is way better as a forth choice midfielder than Momo was, plus he has the talent to become even better

All of our midfielders seem to get stronger and stronger as the games goes on, they are full of running right up the final whistle. The coaching staff have done really well to improve the stamina levels in the players

He was my MOM Very assured and composed performance.

I love the way he bounces of players. Its hilarious.

Lucas and Riera were about the only positives apart from the goal in the first half. Was also excellent in the second half and hard to choose between him and Keane for MoM

Lucas was totally committed when challenging for the ball and his passing was excellent, he needs to play like that regularly. Credit where it's due he was the best player on the pitch last night.

He played like he did because Stevie and Xabi weren't playing, when he plays in the same team as them his role within the team is different so he isn'r as effective.
He was brilliant at the end of last season when playing instead of Xabi

You have a point here with Stevie and Xabi. Both want to take the free kicks, Stevie wants to take all of the corners. So Lucas doesnt get a look in.

Lucas`s free kick delivery last night was top class, it was a wicked ball he placed in for Babel to head home, it didnt have so much pace but it swerved and dipped dramatically towards the end of the flight. I hope this was noted by Rafa, Stevie and Xabi

No, but a lot of people didn't think he had a performance like that in him.
