Player of the Season so far ?

Personally i would say it has to be Arbeloa

I think he has been absolutely fantastic in nearly every game. He has added great attacking quality all of a sudden and he just seems to be everywhere these days. So many times now we see him attacking in the box trying to score, massive improvement in his game. His defending has been awesome and his new found attacking ability and confidence is so good to see.

I have seen him beating 2 players at a time, not sure where he has suddenly found the pace from but Alvaro Arbeloa

The other 2 candidates i would say are Reina and Alonso. Reina we have taken for granted as usual, he has been superb again this season.

Alonso i think has been good but doesn't get this award because he hasn't scored enough goals for my liking

There hasn't been a player which has really stuck out. A good sign really, as we cant be labelled a 1-man team

Skertl's early season form was excellent, and agree that Arbeloa has also been superb. Has to be Alonso for me though. He seems to be playing a little bit further up the field this season and only needs to add a few goals to his game for me. Has been the best player on the park during our best team performances, passing and controlling the flow of the game.

Reina for me. He has been astoundingly good when we have needed him.

                    Controversial.

I would say Alonso, for the sheer turn around in his form this season. I thought we'd never seem him back to his best.

It also says a lot about how we feel about SG that having dug us out of a few holes this season again, we regard it as part of his day job.

Honorable mention to Kuyt too, who again, has improved a lot, and really contributed to where we are now.
                    Oh I don't know.

Would agree with that. He seems to have made at least one crucial save in practically every game, which for some reason is rarely highlighted.

More significantly, I'm struggling to recall a single goal conceded that could be directly attributed to a Reina misjudgement, let alone a clear mistake. And, for me, the quantity of errors made is the criteria against which all keepers should be judged. Which is why Reina has been the best in the country this season, not to mention the best we've had since Clemence.

Without doubt the outstanding players have been Alonso and Arbeloa.

Special mention to Stevie G as well because we take it for granted he will produce, and he still consistently does get us out of the ****e.

Xabi, closely followed by Pepe - one incredible OPTA stat I read on page 252 Skytext about Xabi:-

Long passes attempted 205, completion rate 100%!

Surely at least one hasn't found its target??

Xabi and Pep for me too.

Arby has been solid, but nothing spectacular.

Exactly what we need though. And very consistent IMO.

Pepe has been outstanding and as with Stevie G it is just taken for granted now how good he actually is.
