Depends how you are judging it. If you really mean who has been the best player in the team then the only ones in the running are Alonso, Gerrard and Reina, and my vote would go to Gerrard.

But we expect it every week from him, so he doesn't get the recognition he deserves (from us).

If you mean who has surpassed expectations then I'd agree with you on Arbeloa. Would have said Riera early on too, but he's had a few very mediocre games lately.

On form this season, yes, definitely.

Even one of Sky's Liga commentators, who normally talk about Barca and Madrid as though they're the only teams in the Universe (even, FFS, when commentating on one of them playing someone else) proposed a couple of weeks ago that Reina is probably Spanish number one keeper so far this season.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

11 goals before christmas, pretty decent.
he has indeed manage to score a very good amount of goals but for me he loses far too often tryin to play wonder balls and doin silly flicks etc.

however thinkin about it he is doin the same as the team, not playin well but gettin the results so maybe im just chattin bollocks

              alonso be a country mile.

however, i would also put riera up there. the guy seems to have incredible control and the ability to walk through players at times and gives us much better balance. like kuyt, he never hides either
              in january we were doomed.

in august we will rise from the ashes of ****e and march on again

With regards to an individuals form I would say all have been about average to good level, with the odd well known exceptions, who have been dire. Personally I've been non plussed by a lot of the players this year and though top of the league I feel that a few individuals hitting top form could really take us to another level.

That's not to say the players have been poor, just that they have been taking turns in producing the goods - which isn't too a bad a thing.

                    Hmmmm, alot of interesting opinions.

I didn't go for Alonso because i really think he should be scoring more but too often his shots are miles off target. The only negative about him this season. But then again even Fabregas isn't scoring much this season.

Yes Reina has been truly brilliant as always. Suppose it would be a tough pick. On the subject of world class keepers i would say that Reina, Casillas and Buffon are all pretty much even. Reina has the best distribution in the world and his agility has been amazing this season.

Riera has been poor for last month or so, Carra keeps scoring own goals and Kuyt hasn't scored in a while

Gerrard has had some good games and a few very quiet games. He really dissapointed me in the west ham game because he had been talking about how he loves to control the game from the middle of the park and then he did everything but that when he got played at CM

Arbeloa hasn't put a foot wrong all season.
