Thanjk you.

He played well I thought, but he'll need to play like that much more often. His confidence should be growing though as he has put in two decent performances v PSV and Arsenal recently. He looks a better player away from Anfield for some reason.
dont know which game you were watching but he was **** again yesterday. Alonso didnt want to go forward because lucas cant be trusted to marshall the back four which didnt help our forward play especially when they went down to 10 men.
gave the ball away too many times yesterday and didnt provide enough support play for the attacking players.
The simple reason for not winning the game was the unexpected absence of mascherano. If he had played we would have won the game.

Getting better, but still gives away far too many stupid free-kicks in his own half, and doesn't really impose himself on a game as Mascher, Gerrard and Alonso do in their own different ways.
Keep improving though Lucas, you might surprise me yet and make it as a first team regular.

Do we know for sure that Alonso wasn't under instructions to hold?
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

at times alonso wanted to get forward and if masher was playing he would have done so but not with lucas behind him.
Xabi is a very intelligent player and when arsenal went down to 10 men he would have known exactly what we needed to do to win the game but when your hands are tied there's not a lot you can do.
Arsenal had VP up front and he is very very pacy.

How do you know he wanted to get forward and how do you know he wasn't holding because he'd been told to?
It's not even Lucas's or Alonso's or Mascherano's job to marshall the back four. Protect, yes, usually - marshall, no. I'd have thought that was Carra's job.
The point here is you're supposing Lucas's limitations (in your opinion) are behind Alonso not getting forward. I think it's perfectly possible that, in Mascherano's absence, Alonso, as the more experienced of the two central midfielders, had been told to hold. I don't know but then again I'm not the one using Alonso's positioning yesterday as a way of bashing Lucas.

He started poorly, gave away some silly fouls and looks scared to head the ball but he grew in confidence a bit and played some nice passes later on.
I thought he was excellent - Silly fouls - I would call spoiling - Stopping the game in a non advantageous position for Arsenal, a little tug, bit of contact.
Put in a better performance than masher has done for a while, and don't forget he is still learning. More to come me thinks

I'd say they become silly fouls when you're giving them away near to the edge of our box - close enough for a direct shot or for someone to sling a dangerous ball into the area. Lucas' fouls were mainly in or around the centre-circle.
Thought he put in a very efficient performance yesterday.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
I've said for a while that a/Licas is a good player and b/ that Lucas - Alonso is a good basis for the team. As far as I can tell the problem with the team has become that Gerrard and the two wide players are not getting close enough to the striker and their movement isn't good enough. All to often at the minute we get very congested in the central area between the halfway line and the final third.
When Torres plays his pace and movement push the opposition defense back but when we don't have that we have to look to use the attacking four more creatively to make that space. If when we do this I think both Lucas and Alonso will thrive and start creating chances rather than just keeping the ball moving.
