I'd like to think that given the opportunity he'd develop into a world beater, or at the very least a capable first team player. But I just don't see it myself. I think he's decidedly average and has too far to go before he's considered regularly good enough for our first team.
He certainly doesn't look good in comparison with our other world class centre mids. I don't really hold that against him, however he doesn't seem to offer anything that Spearing doesn't, or even the unfortunate Guthrie now at NewcastleIt's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

By his shocking standards he was about a 3/10. He gave away multiple freekicks, the majority of his 5yard passes went backwards. Bar his shot on goal he was his usual self. I have posted my opinions on Lucas a few times here. I would love nothing better than for him to really improve and prove me wrong but I just cant see it.
On a more positive note:
Insua and Alonso were the best players on the pitch against Arsenal. Insua deserves a good run in the team. Great goal by Keane, (but why haul off your your main attacking threat time and time again).
Anyway, were still top, and if your top when playing average then we must remain positive.

One thing Van Persie isn't is pacy.Originally posted by el matador View Postat times alonso wanted to get forward and if masher was playing he would have done so but not with lucas behind him.
Xabi is a very intelligent player and when arsenal went down to 10 men he would have known exactly what we needed to do to win the game but when your hands are tied there's not a lot you can do.
Arsenal had VP up front and he is very very pacy.
He is skillful and has the best ability to turn on the ball i have seen for a while. but he isn't quick.
Not many times have you seen him knock it around a player, more of it is all about his balance and turning

Was at the game and thought he was superb. Neat and tidy, and broke the play up well, despite the multiple free kicks he gave away. The Arse fans were fuming he wasn't booked after his 'millionth', read 6th, foul.
Insua stood out though. He was right in front of me in the first half so i kept a close eye on him. Very promising going forward and not shy in the tackle. Riera didn't help him out defensively too much and he did struggle when one on one with Sagna but overall i thought he was fantastic.
