Some are citicising and some are abusing, the debate gets a little heated. Maybe I jumped the gun there but I sense some demeaning criticism sometimes, you have to admit that sometimes we go overboard, that works both ways I suppose though.

I didn't say he had been abused on here, although I have felt it sometimes go overboard, but I can't recall names. But you know he has been abused, booing, namecalling on sites etc.

I feel he deserves our support for getting the team where they are now and hopefully he'll get the contract out of the way soon.

It depends on how you define abuse I suppose. Some would say that heavy unecessary criticism is abuse so it all depends if you see some of the heavier criticism he's received as being justified or not.

Well put, although it annoys me why the need is to shift the focus from what I was saying to something less important. This is a trend I often see here in debates, don't know if it is intentional or not but it's annoying.

My glass is half full though, and my original post was about that!

Way I look at is that we are in a very good position- couldve been a fair bit better, but couldve been much much worse.

There are some negatives- such as our awful inability to break down teams at home, but at the same time we have arguably the world's best striker to come back soon & Keane seems to be playing better.

RAfa is a scientist- maybe he's decided to play it a little cautious til we get Torres back & then really unleash us for the second half of the season.
                3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I have the impression he's rotated less this season so maybe we won't be as strong in the rest of the season previously.

I can't believe we haven't already won the league.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Yes, I agree with you on that, though we should have a fresh Torres to lead our second half surge, a fresh Skrtel as well. Also Masher has missed his share of games, Fabio as always has taken his share of rest and Stevie has coasted through a number of games. Rafa has also taken extra special care to ensure that Robbie and Babel have also rested enough this first half of the season .... not to mention Pennant!
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about Pennant. I now feel a lot more confident.

Seriously, fair points about the players who have been injured.

Please, nothing negative in here at all. It is for optimistic and overly joyous posters who are just happy to be here and not to analyse the team or Rafa's decisions.

nice thread - enjoyed reading most of it I think the only way we will get some of the negative posters to post more positive is to start agreeing with them all the time, all of us to be miserable *******s, then that way with noone to argue with, they would have to start posting positively to ruffle some feathers

anyway when we went 1-0 down, and arsenal started looking on form, my first concern was getting to half time at 1-0, then try and regroup and get back into it. A wonder goal from keane, turned the tables and at 1-1 we pushed on, ok once arsenal went down to 10 men, i'd hoped we would have pushed on and got another, but even with 10 men arsenal are steam a decent side, we had a few chances and overall it was a solid performence and a point away at the emirates is far from disasterious - in fact we have had a great start in the big four mini league, something that was once used as a beating stick for rafa....... but 2 wins and a draw, so 7pts from united/chelsea/arsenal so far is a great achievment, if we can somehow win two of the remaining 3 games then we will really be in the mix imo.

Looking at the squad, i can agree that yes, we have had some dire performences, a few lucky ones, and some great ones. - We are still looking for a few players to settle or show they are up to it, but to get were we are without torres being present due to injury most of the season, well it was probably unthinkable to be fair. I do think we are desperate to get a fully fit torres back and scoring goals, any team would. In fact i do believe if he comes back fit, finds form and bangs in say 15+ goals in the second half of the season, it will be the boost we need to push us all the way.

Yes there are a few negatives, keane hasn't settled or found form like many of us hoped, dossena the same, but when u look at some of the positives it has to make us all feel a bit of optimism now and then - we have great, really great goalkeeper - a solid back four, an excellent centre midfield, some width with a bit of quality on the left, solid but maybe lack a little class on the right, and up front altough e have the best striker in the world in torres, probably require another option. There is room for improvement, but there is always going to be room for imrpovement, but we have as good a squad than we have had in ages, are top of the league without playing particularly well and regardless of chelsea result tonight, come christmas we have got ourselves into the mix with a real chance.

forget about results, dropped points here, or missed opportunites, or the results our rivals, surely noone on here would disagree with -

if at the start of the season, would u take being top by two points at xmas, tho chelsea have a game in hand that may take them one point clear.

I think every single person would have been happy with that situation regardless off what has happened in us getting there (dropped points, no torres, rivals slipping up etc)
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

So, some people, on some sites, somewhere, have 'abused' Rafa. So what? There's idiots everywhere. Some people go around getting into fights too.

Not sure what your point is mate. He isnt really abused on here.

Defining criticism as abuse is somewhat precious and silly.
