    1st Feb - Chelsea (h) LOSE
    7th Feb - Portsmouth (a) DRAW
    21st Feb - Man City (h) WIN

9 points from 18 with 12 games to go... that would possibly push us out of the race

    Or more realistically IMO...

    10th Jan - Stoke (a) WIN
    19th Jan - Everton (h) WIN
    27th Jan - Wigan (a) DRAW
    1st Feb - Chelsea (h) DRAW
    7th Feb - Portsmouth (a) DRAW
    21st Feb - Man City (h) WIN

12 points from 18 with 12 games to go.

    1st Feb - Chelsea (h) WIN

If im right, 16 points aint a bad return and we will be in a great position with 12 games to go.

    7th feb-portsmouth *a) win
    21st feb-man city (h) win

Maximum points needed if the title's coming our way
Far too negative. Continuing the spirit of inflation and the order in which I read the above posts:

    10th Jan - Stoke (a) win
    9th Jan - Everton (h) winx2
    27th Jan - Wigan (a) win
    1st Feb - Chelsea (h) win
    7th Feb - Portsmouth (a) win
    21st Feb - Man City (h) win

21 points out of 18 is the minimum requirement.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Must admit I now feel confident we can beat anyone, anywhere especially with Torres to return. We won't win every game obviously but we could and I feel a lot better knowing that.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

I remember in Rafa's second season we went on a 10 game winning streak. Wouldn't this be a great time to go on one of those again?

Indeed. We're on a 2 game streak now so another 8 in a row would be immense.

Boring I know, but the only way to do it is one game at a time.

I must be the only person on here who's a little worried about Nando coming back. I think the team have found a balance and done well without him, moreso recently, and adjusting the play to accomodate him, especially if he's not 100%, presents a real risk for me. I'm not for a second advocating leaving him on the bench (I'm not mad), but I think it might not be as straight forward as a lot of people on here are suggesting i.e. bring Nando nack and instantly those draws turn to wins, those narrow victories turn to drubbings, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if we hit a bit of a sticky patch for a couple of games while he's finding his feet again.

I think you are being somewhat churlish, i'd be disappointed with anything less than 36 points out of 18. Any less and Rafa has to go.

They've looked pretty ordinary in stuttering performances I've seen lately on TV against Sunderland, Stoke and Middlesbrough. I don't see any reason why we won't continue to pick up more points than them based on our current form compared with theirs.

our current form is not as good as theres. We are playing a lot better but over the last 6 games they have more points.

                      Thats right.

The Mancs are loking ominous as they aren't playing well but are collecting more points than all of their rivals.

The team that finishes above ManU will win the league in my book.

They may have more points from their 4 stuttering 1-0 wins against poor teams and two 0-0 draws in those 6 games, but I'll take our performances in our last two games against Bolton and Newcastle against their last two performances any day of the week.

I see Chelsea getting at least a point at Old Trafford and I don't see us dropping points any time soon - certainly in the next 6 games - unless we have another freak result like Spurs away where we totally battered them and lost.

We are currently the best team in the league and are looking far more impressive than either Chelsea or Man Utd. As a gambling man I'm delighted that the bookies keep writing us off. I see nothing in the overall play of either of the other contenders to be worried about

I would say they're looking more fortunate than ominous - and I reckon they'll finish behind both us and Chelsea. By the law of averages they won't keep playing so averagely and scraping wins and goal-less draws; they'll get the come-uppance that their play merits

I wish i shared your optomism but i dont. Unfortunaltely neither do the bookies.

I don't think it is just fortune though. United have a vary strong defense which has meant that the games are always in games and they have some exceptional individual talents in attack who and are willing to really go for it if down or drawing at the end of games. like our results at the beginning of the season their gaining of wins without good performances indicates that the team/squad have the right mentality.

Previous experience would indicate that at some point the United team will 'click'. I think you discount United at your peril.
