I must admit to being surprised though, that after the 1-5 win, and staying top over crimbo, added to the fact his own form is excellent, that Stevie would.. now of all times, be in the state of mind to stick one on anyone.

Could be that the pressure/urge/hunger/fear of trying to bring this title home is bubbling under the skin more than we realise, so good to hear the clubs statement of backing for the skipper, he knows he can rely on the fans too.

Very good point, from a public image point of view this is very bad for us but from a on the field point of view it could go either way, if this had happened to a fringe player it wouldn't be a big deal but its our captain and arguably most important player, if his head drops god knows how the rest of the squad will react....I'm really hoping this will fire him up and he'll put in some monster performances over the next month....

I think Sammy Lee has a job to do over the next month to help keep Gerrard focused, I imagine Rafa will have words with him today and then won't mention it again until he's due in court - unless his head goes.

Agreed, we sould all support him, no doubt the fans of the teams we're playing in the next 5 games are already thinking of songs and chants, so he'll need our support at the games.

I'm not saying thats what I want to happen, he's been a good captain, but in todays world of 24 hour news and with the family based clean image football is trying to promote I think there will be lots of pressure on Liverpool to replace him as captain.

There is also the impact on preseason, he won't be able to get a visa to enter the USA!
