You have GOT to check this out!

Just seen this on the Guardian website, and believe me it is a ****ing sensational tool!

You can basically select anyone of our premiership games and see exactly what each player did, be it tackle pass, shoot etc. Not only that, it shows where the pass or shot went, who to, and whether or not it was successfull, as well as where the attempts where made on the pitch.

As you'd guess, Stevies passes are from all over the shop, whilst a LB is restricted mostly to the left.

But it does uncover the truth about certain players, though of course it doesn't highlight a players position and what them being there (or not) influenced..........

Here's Gerrards passes v Chelsea - Blus success, Red failure.

    Forwards.......

I must say, I was shocked that the ever ndustrious Kuyt made only three tackle attempts, winning only one............ I was less suprised to see that he attempted no crosses!

Of course, this doesn't tell the whole story, but it tells a tale of where we are lacking.
    Forwards.......

Wow, that's cool. I just used Alonso and passes and it showed 43 good ones against 7 bad for the Chelsea game. Includes the position on the field.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Not many tackles made in a match, Carra & Skrtel only made each 5 themselves.

According to those stats, Aurelio outpassed Alonso - he had 52 successfull and only 5 bad ones.

Yeah, just found that out. I guess it's a players positioning that has the most effect?

According to the stats, we had 30 shots against Stoke at Anfield, whilst they had 2!

I checked the passes into the box from each our players in the same game and it was virtually all red! (failed). We just don't win enough balls in the box!

                    Or Chelsea didn't really attack?

Kuyt successful passed nearly two thirds of passes which isn't a really high fraction. I'm surprised Mascherano mis-placed his passes only twice.

Shame it doesn't give you stats on corners.

Have a look at the difference between Mascherano's passing compared to Mikels
Sack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

What about Rafa's position in the technical area, and how many successful hand gestures he completed..
