Yeah, it's hilarious tony. I'm chuffed at our struggles to win games.

Err, because benitez is a defensive manager and his team is full of defensive players, obviously. Silly question.

The original question also falls into the catagory of "Why do we fanny about with the ball across the back 4 inviting errors to let the opposition score"?

Tonight's game to me was crying out for the old saying that "Attack is the best form of defence".

You are right though, we do often go for it within the last 10 mins (when behind). Players instinct I suppose. Forget the 30 minute clipboard talk of how the game should pan out!

You've summed it up to a t there man. I'm sure Rafa hates watching the team play just as much as we do.

We need some creative players now and we'll be complete. We should have bid for arse having while we had the chance.

do you really believe that? would rafa ever allow creative players in his robotic system? I know he had Aimar at Valencia but we are rarely linked to these type players. Benni would have been better playing in the Gerrard position today since he drifts in anyway.

              Of course I believe it!

Rafa was somewhat lucky in that he inherited an already great team from Hector Cuper but he still got them to tick and play decent football. Rafa knows what players we need but he just doesn't have the cash to get who he really wants. I'm sure he would have looked at someone like Arshavin but by the time he had the money he'd already agreed to sign for Arsenal. Another thing we have to look at is, do these players really want to sign for us??

At the end of the day none of us have a ****ing clue what's going on in the background. For all we know Rafa could be trying to sign some of the best players on the planet albeit on a **** budget which means he ends up not buying his number one target(s).

Before anyone starts saying he's had x & y amount of cash to spend on players. Yes he has but he's had to gradually build a team over time on a set amount of cash. He knows a quality player when he sees one, hence why he never drops Gerrard, Reina, Carragher, Torres.

Why doesnt he sign some creative players then?

Why the obsession with defensive midfielders?

                Why not go for Arshavin?

A tad unfair, case in point being Torres, Garcia, Benayoun, Riera

This has been bugging me too. Allegedly Arshavin was touted around Premiership sides when Arsenal were playing silly buggers over his fee. If that was the case, and we were getting cash for Robbie, was it REALLY too late to do a deal??

                    He has tried?

It's (imo) the most important part of the pitch in modern football. I think he's happy with what he has now anyway?

He obviously didn't want him? We're skint?

Have been saying the same thing for ages. I think often we go out and spend the first 20-30mins seeing how the opposition are set up with no intention of trying to win the game in this period and as long as it stays 0-0 we stay like that, if w get a goal we stay like that longer.

I think the problem with playing like that is that it's dificult to up the tempo from a slow start, it's always easier to slow down later on and that's where I think we go wrong.

When we go behind we have nothing to lose anymore, so can play with more freedom, when we get back on level terms we can go on to win because we've built up that momentum. In the games were we don't go behind the tempo only gets increased when it's still 0-0 after 75-80mins and panic sets in, by then it's too late. We need to set about teams from the start of games!!

There's talk that we took out an extra loan in the summer to pay for Keane (http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/...780#msg5349780)
