MacKenzie on Question time last night.....

Please move this if its in the wrong place.

Our national TV station, the BBC has again hired the lying scumbag Kelvin Mackenzie for question time last night. Hopefully everyone on here will know he was responsible for the lies printed in the s*n and never apologised.

A lot of other LFC forums are running a thread with the following link to complain to the BBC to have something done about the odious liar.

Here is the link to complain:

The more complaints the better, the BBC may then listen to how much distress this person has caused/is causing the people of Liverpool.

    Thanks.

This has been done about 10 times but the BBC ignores it every time. Stop wasting your time, they won't listen to you. They are not going to stop putting him on air just because Liverpool fans don't like him

But we must let the BBC know that we disapprove everytime he appears on the channel. It is the least we can do - sure they might not take any action but at the very least they will understand how strongly we feel.

If question time had to take the morality of a personality into consideration before picking studio guests, they would have an empty studio.

Sadly I think that's right. The BBC is surely aware of the issue by now yet it makes no difference. MacKenzie is obviously seen as bankable in some way; a British Sean Hannity-lite. Irritating people is is his stock-in-trade - the BBC clearly don't make a distinction between his vile record on Hillsborough and his boorish comments on everything else. They're wrong but I can't see them changing. If anything it just gives more fuel to the idea that MacKenzie is a controversial figure and broadcasters like pundits who polarise because it makes them think we care about their tedious little programmes.

Fair play to anyone who wants to complain but at the very least I'd make it clear your dominant emotions are sadness and disappointment rather than anger. They'll be less comfortable with that.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Right, says the person with your signature!!!!!!!!

Tell you what mate, it means something to me, and it should mean something to you. Russel Brand was sacked after 30000 complaints for far less then Mackenzie has done?

If you complained instead of telling me to stop wasting my time, we might get somewhere. Its my time and I dont think complaining about this liar after what he has done is wasting it.

Just like you clearly dont think telling us to boycott Isreali products is wasting time either.

So complain to the BBC or dont bother replying.

Is it not just possible that the BBC chooses the tw@t precisely because it stimulates these protests etc?

It's free publicity really! It would be better in my opinion to get a panelist or two on side in the show to help have a go, he did face questioning on the subject last time but either evaded it or just refused to acknowledge what he did.

Protest by all means and do it with all our blessings but I can't help thinking they like the controversy the tw@t brings.

Good point well made - and I think you are far more likely to get a response from the BBC than Israel

The BBC responded to public complaints over Brand / Ross (although these were obviously tabloid-driven).

If I can do anything, no matter how small, to make the existence of that odious ****bag even the slightest bit more inconvenient than it would otherwise have been, then I'm happy to do it.

From RAWK, this sums up all anyone needs to say:

                      Dear Sir/madam,

I would like to complain in the strongest possible terms regarding your continued use of Kelvin Mackenzie as a guest panellist on Question Time.

Let us be clear about Mr MacKenzie - he is a man who oversaw total falsehoods regarding the worst stadium sporting tragedy in British history - the Hillsborough disaster, by making the most appalling claims regarding supporters' behaviour. In case you forgot, he approved a story claiming, among other lies, that fans stole from corpses and urinated on them. All these claims have been proven to be completely false, the Sun itself issuing a lame apology for what it called "the most terrible mistake in our history." But to compound the great offence he has caused, after first apologizing for the story he later retracted and said he felt no remorse. Mr MacKenzie has also used a previous appearance on Question Time to stand by his comments.

Not only were these claims false and grossly insulting to supporters and the memory of the dead, they also caused untold distress to the families of the bereaved. You or I can have no perception of the continued pain they suffer to see such a person continue to appear on the BBC.

Please do not dismiss me as one outraged football 'fan' who has taken things out of proportion. Yes I love football and yes I have a great devotion to Liverpool, but I also have a sense of decency and certain expectations of how the BBC behaves. Catering to a person who has lied and insulted those who came to the aid of dying friends is behaviour that any person, not matter what their affiliations, should be appalled with.
Furthermore, not only do you continue to give Mr Mackenzie employment, you actually use his track record on Hillsborough in his the blurb promoting your programme. Please do not try and defend this with claims that we all have different views, not matter how outrageous. Mr Mackenzie's were not views, they have been proven to be LIES.

Again, I urge you to stop and consider for one moment the gross offence and hurt your are causing many families and ordinary-thinking people, people who help support the BBC and should expect to be treated better than this. Shame on you.

Great letter - it must be sickening for the Hillsborough families to have to stump up the license fee each year to pay towards McKenzie's continued employment.

Fair play, but you are wasting your time. In reality, being a lying scumbag is sort of why they use him. He knows the realities of a dirty media where the distinction between truth and lies is almost irrelevant. It is this that makes him an insightful contributor in their eyes. Objecting will not work. Last time it was because he was on radiold 5 live, now it's QT. They would seem to be more interested in him than ever. Sometimes i think you just have to accept private anger.
