Have to agree Babel's first touch was awful and he added very little to the team, needs to improve dramatically as he is not the player he was last season

Personally I think hes not the same player Rafa and the scouts were watching before we signed him

I think he has shown signs recently of growing understanding and effort (not last night obviously). If he doesn't start and perform to a decent level in the next two games then you have to fear for his career with us.

I still think he lacks the instinctive movements needed to be a centre forward and should concentrate on a wide role. However Torres injury is an opportunity to prove me wrong.

His 'movement' is non-existent. Last night he just stood around like a totem-pole. He either isn't very good at finding space or he can't be bothered.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The thing is last night I thought he did try to a degree but he just didn't seem to know what to do and was looking to Kuyt to tell him. By the time he had been told the situation had changed. For a forward it's not always about amount of movement but intelligence of positions taken (see Berbatov for example) Babel seems to have little/no understanding of this.

Having said that he always looks a bit of a confidence player and a short run and the feeling of responsibility without Torres could be the making of him. I hope Rafa picks him above El Zhar and Ngog personally.

I was dissapointed with his lack of effort last night both on and off the ball.

I can understand lack of confidence effecting your decision making but there is no excuse for lack of effort in my opinion. When you see the hard work and endevour Torres and Kuyt put in, it really shows when other players don't.
