Don't think Rafa had much choice given Carra's alleged refusal to play there on Saturday. Or rather 'asked not to play there because he felt heavy-legged' FFS. If that true it's a bit of a disgrace - he should play where he's ****ing told - but I'm prepared to hold fire until Carra speaks up.

Ah now I understand the piece I heard on radio 5. It had me puzzled.
Rafa interviewed post match said Mascherano "had to play there". When the interviewer asked if it was tactical Rafa said "no", then repeated "he had to play there".

So does anyone expect some more to come of this Carra/right-back farce? If you ask me – assuming this is true of course and there’s no reason to believe it isn’t (Martin Tyler is relatively close to a lot of players and gets good info) – Carragher should be fined.
If he was so ****ing ‘heavy-legged’ he shouldn’t have played at all. He’s either fit to play or he isn’t. Granted playing full-back requires a lot more running, galloping up and down the line, but still. Sounds like a cop-out to me anyway. Heavy-legged my arse. He just didn’t fancy it. Anyway Rafa decides who’s ‘heavy-legged’ as he has all the fitness stats at his disposal.
Carra may not be the best attacking full-back around but he knows how to play there. He knows how to stay in line and to keep the shape. Poor old Skittles was all at sea and who can blame him having never played there before.
Yeah, thanks ‘Jamie la’.
Don’t get me wrong I love Carra but I was fuming when I heard this last night. Hope there’s a proper explanation but Rafa didn’t seem too happy when stressing “he had to play Mascherano there”.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Yes, it was very odd. Sounded like Rafa was in one of those criptic moods but surely he could give a reason. He must know it will only lead to silly speculation.Originally posted by Cormack74 View PostAh now I understand the piece I heard on radio 5. It had me puzzled.

Personally, I think Carra was drug tested and tested positive for scag and there's a conspiracy of silence from the club and the PL.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

It would appear to be out of character for Carragher to dictate where he plays and while I don't think players should have that kind of clout I do think that if Carragher says he can't bomb up and down the wing as he'd be expected to then fair enough.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostSo does anyone expect some more to come of this Carra/right-back farce? If he flat out refused to play then he should have been fined and dropped, telling the manager that he'd rather not then I think from a senior player that is OK.
My main problem is that we can't trust Aurelio, Dossena or Insua to fill in at RB.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

Two very different players personality wise, you can see from Gerrard body language when he's pissed off. Play him on the right (or left) and you'll get the sulk from him.Originally posted by Reggie View PostI would certainly be disappointed in Jamie if that is true.
They're not your legs Jamie, they belong to Liverpool FC.
When was the last time Gerrard played out on the right as well? Are these two getting a bit too much power perhaps?
Carragher has always been different and has played where he's asked every single time - don't forget he was a left back for a season or so.
If a senior player tells you he feels unable to perform optimally in a high-energy position then fair enough.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

hmmm - what about carra's very slow exit of the pitch on saturday? talking to a guy in work yesterday who said there's a lot of talk about carra and some other players being very put out at parry's "treatment" and apparently ray houghton - i know - described it as a protest walk on saturday.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostSo does anyone expect some more to come of this Carra/right-back farce? If Carra refused point blank to play RB then it is disgraceful and he should be dropped and taught a lesson playing in the reserves.
However, if he just intimated to Rafa that he just honestly did not feel he could give 100% in that position and Rafa had confidence using Mascher in the role, then I see it as less of an issue - disappointing but not worth blowing out of proportion.
Mascher was excellent at RB anyway.

Could explain why Skrtel looked so pissed off all game
Would also explain why the team looked like they couldnt give a **** at all, and Gerrard looked well pissed off all game.

I totally agree but he is a player, not a coach or manager. He doesn’t run the show and should play where he’s told.Originally posted by Nicey View PostI think Carra of all ****ing people deserves a little bit of ****ing respect considering he has been running through ****ing brick walls for the club for as long as I can rememberThanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
