But he has got into the Spain squad regularly now - I think he must be a decent player who just is very out of form right now.

i like reira he was poor today though. he is a totally different player from his debut when he was hugging the touch line and taking players on. he goes down too easy but has good control, skill and passing. think he'll come on a lot next year (but we all said that about babel)

Hmmm I'm just not sure he is suited for speed of the English game. He would be (and was) good no doubt in the more pedestrian speed of La Liga.

Riera was good at the start of his time with us because he stayed wide and delivered from wide areas. The more he has come inside the less effective he has been IMO

i think it proves how important the barry signing would have been.barry would have helped dossena out alot, helping him out on the defensive side of the game.

The fact he is playing for Liverpool has played a big factor in this. Also, there isn't many decent LW in Spain at the moment. How many starts has he made for Spain - not many. And Aragones and now Del Bosque don't seem to play with proper wingers. Before anyone says "What about Silva" - he's not a winger!

I was impressed by riera at the beginning but the more i've watched him i don't think he'll get much better. Has no real pace, doesn't offer a consistent goal threat and was really careless in possession today!

But dossena does deserve a pat on the back today for a lovely goal, he's got some abuse and deservedly so, maybe playing him further up the pitch will suit him!

Possibly but it does reduce his effectiveness. Early on in the season he was hogging the touchline. A couple of times I looked up and wondered where he was as he was that far in field.

I guess with one up front you have to get wide players into the box, but I think with he coming in field in the middle third we lose some width and an out ball.

I think his natural game is attacking I heard it mentioned when we signed him he was a wing back. He's a bit suspect defensively so maybe playing further up field will do him some good where he has less defensive responsibilities

I'm not in to slagging off players but Riera needs to stand up and be counted. Too often he tries a clever flick, when he should demonstrate his ability by picking out a great pass or clever one-two.

Dossena's recieved way too much criticism from fans, I'd love to see him succeed now, and is starting to show a glimpse of what he's capable of.

Lets hope so, his confidence should have taken a boost in the last week with goals against Real Madrid and the scum, so he should be flying

Considering DelPiero, Toni and Inzaghi are all at the end of their careers, the lad might have found a new position to play for the national team

Should be used as a wing-back against lower league opposition who are intent on parking the bus.
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

By the way, our left side is suddenly starting to look stronger than the usually solid right. We've also got Leto to come back next season aswell.
