I like the lad. A lot. For two reasons:-

    1. His goal celebrations today and on Tuesday prove to me he loves the club and takes a great deal of pride in playing for us.

    2. Him being here means Riise is not.

Both finishes were very composed, and like others have said, someone on the left who can go forward and get crosses in is a valuable asset. Don't get me wrong, he and Deggen gave the worst performances from two full backs I think I have ever seen in a league cup tie at White Hart Lane earlier in the season, and it seems to me the lad has a lot to learn about positioning and defending but there's definite potential and ability there. Would be happy to see him stay with us for another year. And as bad as he has been at times, I'd much prefer him to RIise.

I have been a critic of him since his early season performances, which were quite frankly pretty shocking to say the least, IMO. But lets not go there today of all days because he has had a fantastic week for the club.

Since he has been pushed into a LM/LW role he has looked far more comfortable. My concerns over his long term role in the team remain, however I genuinely hope he continues to prove the doubters wrong and show us exactly why he is the Italian international LB.

Well if he's scoring from the left wing, then that should be his role. Riera has been wank of late.

lets not get carried away here. he took his chance and got a great goal today but other than that he didn't do much. same as against madrid. he was on the pitch but wasn't a star performer. i hope he comes good but he is still got to be 3rd choice behind aurelio ( who was immense today and has shown he can be our regular left back of late ) and insua.

Much of that opinion is down to how bad Riera has been though recently. Seems like the curse of the LW has struck again.

Got to say as a left winger he has got good pace and can control the ball! I would defo give him a run on the wing!

What a beauty of a goal by Dossena - amazing piece of skill to hit it first time like that with such precision.

2 great finishes in 2 games. Should we be using him as an emergency attacker. His touch was sublime today when he scored, no panic just lifted it over the advancing keeper
It is very good to see the lesser lights making an impression. Lucas certainly can do a job for us and Dossena has ability, if we can exploit it.
But 2 great finishes? The finish against Real was poor and he was lucky that Casillas let himself down.

FAir play. HE has been pants, but has had a bloody good week.

Riera, for me, has been very poor. He just doesnt produce, and seems like he cant cope with the pace. Dossena may be a shout for a more forward position, as he can cross quite well, and has decent pace.
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

He drilled a crossed ball low and hard and beat the keeper with pace...that's a good finish in my book...Gerrard today showed how to finish a chance like that poorly when he ballooned Babel's back heel over the bar, and that was a much easier finish that the one Dossena had.

They have very different abilities. Reira has an astonishing first touch and has loads of skill, whereas Dossena has power and is very direct with a great cross. If they could be combined into one we'd have John Barnes or something quite close!

I think his attitude has always looked first class - wiling to learn and try to improve. I'm really glad for him that he has bagged a couple of goals in big games.

It will be interesting to see what Rafa does with him at the end of the season. At least now his time with us will not be remembered purely for his early poor defensive performances.

he's lost weight and gained a massive confidence boost.

i think (and hope) he is a shining example of why we give signings from abroad a first full season to settle. im expecting good things from him next year.

i don't think his defending is bad at all. i think it all comes down to him not being instantly settled. a defensive unit is a team and joining a settled back 4 will take time.

signs are excellent. long may it continue.
