But 2 great finishes? The finish against Real was poor and he was lucky that Casillas let himself down.

Saying it was a poor finish is harsh - he hits it hard first time and under Casillas's diving body - amost impossible to save.

A superb finish which followed probably the cross of the game when Gerrard ballooned over. Not overly sure about how pacy he is as I still have Mendy from Hull roasting him with his pace scarred into my brain. Certainly at this present time a better option than Reira who has been extremely poor recently.

He's had two decent cameos and scored 2 nice goals. Still no sign that he can defend.

He's slower than a milk float mate.

Not having that. There's a difference between being slow on the turn and slow full-stop. He looks pedestrian and cumbersome when being turned around by quick wingers but when he goes buccaneering up the left wing he is pretty pacey when he gets going.

i think (and hope) he is a shining example of why we give signings from abroad a first full season to settle. im expecting good things from him next year.

i don't think his defending is bad at all. i think it all comes down to him not being instantly settled. a defensive unit is a team and joining a settled back 4 will take time.

signs are excellent. long may it continue.
His defending is appalling! He gets turned inside out and resorts to shirt grabbing, that's not acceptable at this level. His forward play is good, so hopefully Rafa will give him the opportunity to play in a more advanced role.

Maybe if i see more of it, i'll notice it more. But i would never call him quick based on what i've seen.

                      Exactly.

We've got Insua and Aurelio so look sorted at LB. Sell in the summer I think.

Indeed we do have Aurelio and Insua for LB but I think the point I and others have been making is that maybe Dossena has a future with us as a left-winger. They say his preferred position is wing-back and that's where he played so well for Udinese. Still no sign that he can defend? Well, yes, but who cares - the 2 cameos this week have both been as a winger, not as a defender, and he's proven to be very adept going forward. With Riera underperforming so badly, and Babel totally unreliable, he could do a job for us there IMO.

But he isnt remotely quick or skillful enough to be an effective 'winger' for a top side. He's hardly creative, is he?

I said back in december that he should be used on the wing.

He has strength and excellent cross on him and now we've seen he can finish too. He's better than Reira out there and is as good an option, albeit a different one,to Babel.

He is cock defending but going forward you cannot deny he is quick, has a good touch and can beat a man. Oh yeah he can cross also. I would seriously give him a run on the left wing and Reira has been poor of late and Dossena looks good on the wing. I think we have seen his best position in these last two games. I am warming to the lad on our wing.

He can beat a man, back up the full back as he can get up and down all game, and has a decent cross on him. Id settle for that at the moment.
