Fair point about Europe, Houllier gave us our credibility back and Rafa's turned us into major contenders every year.

How can i compile a top 10? I just cant do it

Me neither. I started but ****ed it off. No way can I pick just 10. Reading the thread for a re-cap did my head in. A glittering array of great results.

          My personal favourites under Rafa...

          1. Istanbul

          2. Olympiacos

          3. Barca away 2-1 win

          4. Real Madrid 4-0 win

          5. Scum 4-1 win

          6. Chavs 1-0 first semi final

          7. Newcastle 5-1 total football returned

          8. Inter Milan 1-0 away

          9. Arsenal 4-2 CL q/final

          10. Spurs away 1-1 draw - Rafa's first game in charge and I was lucky enough to be there. Djibs scored a great goal that day!!

There are so many other games that I could have included such as the FA Cup final but I think these are my best 10. Rafa!!!

Thinking about all of these matches has made me emotional. Great idea for a thread Joe King.

Its now getting hard to narrow it down to ten. Istanbul will always be my number one. FA cup final would be my number two. From there all the semis against Chelsea that we won. Arsenal CL 1/4 was absolute magic. Barcelona away with Bellamy and his golf club routine, RM last week at home. Both games this year against united, particularly the last one. Olympiakos. There's been last gasp winners this season against City and Portsmouth and the total dominance at Newcastle. That was sensational.

How many did I name there? Probably more than ten. I'm sure that I've forgotten a few!!
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Was thinking this the other day- we've been lucky enough to enjoy some fabulous times under Rafa. Didnt quite realise how many til I've seen them lined up above tho.

Let's hope we can cap off our top league results against the biggies with a battering of the Gooners.
                3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Not doubting anyone here, but does Istanbul count as a Rafa win?? Surely it was a draw?

A great resuly, but not a Rafa win?? Same goes for the FA Cup victory, which was won on penalties.

Both fantastic games, but in the stats, neither goes down as a win i believe??

There was a trophy at the end of each and Milan and West Ham certainly haven't got them in their cabinets. A penalty win is a win I think

I think the Juve win is a real defining one TBH. Given where we were at the time, it was those goals of LL & Sami that started the beilef...& the magic.

Not really a great performance or a game of much relevance, but the Mellor game against Arsenal always brings back fond memories.

I must have had decent money on it or else it’s just the LFC TV clip constantly reminding me of it.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Any game that Sami scores such a sweet volley is always worth remembering, not to mention Garcia’s cracker.

                            Fond, fond memories...

We've been spoilt for good games since Rafa came in. Hard to pick ten so gonna pick the ones I went to.

                              Olympiacos CL
                              Juventus CL
                              Chelsea CL semi x2
                              Chelsea FA cup semi
                              Istanbul
                              FA Cup final West Ham
                              Arsenal CL quarter final
                              Man United PL
                              Real Madrid CL

Fans of other teams would be lucky to see ten games like that in their lifetime, nevermind in a 5 year period.

So name your top ten greatest wins under Rafael Benitez.

                                10. Everton 2005/06 (Goodison Park) 1-3
                                9. Juventus 2004/05 (Anfield) 2-1
                                8. Birmingham 2005/06 (St Andrews) 0-7
                                7. Chelsea 2004/05 (Anfield) 1-0
                                6. Arsenal 2006/07 (Anfield) 4-1
                                5. Newcastle 2008/09 (St. James Park) 1-5
                                4. Barcelona 2006/07 (Nou Camp) 1-2
                                3. Real Madrid 2008/09 (Anfield) 4-0
                                2. Chelsea 2008/09 (Stamford Bridge) 0-1
                                1. Man United 2008/09 (Old Trafford) 1-4
It's a great top ten, but I'm confused. I thought you wanted the guy sacked and replaced with that retard Mourinho?
                                Really?
