I agree with whoever posted about taking pressure of his side...they go out there knowing that they are odds-on to lose, so will play without the burden of expectation on their shoulders.

But, it also puts more pressure on United, cos now, more than before, they are expected to win...could lead to trying to hard or even worse for them, complacency.

    Fingers crossed.

Which are that Roy says Fulham are unlikely to beat United. Lets look at that in the abstract:

Team in 9th who just avoided relegation last season are unlikely to beat the team in 1st (28 points ahead of their opponents) who won the league last year.

Considering Fulham are captained by Danny Murphy I'm sure there'll be a bit of fight about them come gametime.

I expected it. After the last debacle v ManWho, Fulham as a football club should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Laughing and joking with the opposition when you are getting beat..

One of my favourite managers, this 'we have no chance against utd' admission has annoyed me some what though for sure, i just think, why ?, in public admit something like this now, i understand he may be telling his team something different.

But i still feel he's just adding to utd's confidence pre match, at a time when nerves could be playing a part he says this, i'd have liked him to have said "we are going for utd, we have nothing to lose as they are expected to beat us so no pressure for my lads there, the pressure is all on them after what the Mighty Liverpool fc 5 times euro Champs, 18 times League Champions did to them yesterday".

Over confidence is often under-rated...if united go into the game thinking that they will cruise it, and Fulham go into the game knowing that they have nothing to lose, then well played Roy Hodgson.

B/ I don't really see what is so bad. We can't expect Fulham to beat United and at the same time assume (like lots of our fans do) that they should be easily beaten by ourselves. So he is basically calling to odds and until we see the game we have no idea how he has prepared his team or if he will play to win etc.
C/ Why should other teams not play their season the way we see fit when we are happy to play weakened teams at the end of the season when it suits us but others are still fighting for places?

Well they went to Old Trafford and bent over and then couple of weeks later did the same at home in the cup so expect nothing less than for them to get shafted and love it

pretty poor form i reckon by hodsgon - he did it the other week, saying somethign like it would be a miracle if they scored against the mancs!! - mate they have given up before they have turned up and it's the exact opposite attitude you want to hear esp follwoing our victory and gerrards comments that hopefully we have shown everyone they are not invincible.

Fulham didn't even bother turniong up at Old Trafford a few weeks ago. Not only was it embarrassing, it was immensly frustrating.

From what Hodgson is saying here, it doesn't fill me with confidence. Especially as United are gonna be quite psychologically vulnerable.

John Terry said that Chelsea fell apart after the defeat to us at Stamford Bridge. I'm not saying that United will do that, but we could really do with a team that will try and exploit any weaknesses which appear, not one which will cheerleader them to the title.
                                Oh I don't know.
