Carra is streets ahead of both in my opinion. At times he looks like the only one defending. He is the leader and organiser at the back, provides a link to the crowd and club and is always the one who makes the last ditch tackle that saves our bacon.
But for how much longer though? He's 31 and his body is slowing down but still does a fantastic job for us. But like the club has done with Rafa's contract we have to start thinking long term. I have to agree with Tee 100% even with him contradicting himself saying sticking with Carra for now.
The CB questions a difficult one. I tend to with my heart too much with football, and as far as I'm concerned until he's half dead Carra is the soul of the team and needs to stay in the first team.
Problem is we have 2 amazing CB's that we have to somehow fit in.
But I just can't entertain the idea of Carra ever being benched under any circumstances (other than fitness and rest of course) without feeling a little dirty and guilty.
For the moment but he earns his place on merit so that's a question for the future.
For now we have 3 of the best CB's in the league, with Hyypia who's still well worth a play now and then waiting in the wings. If only we had this dilemma for all positions.
why not play the 3 of them though. especially at home. mascher would help to cover the wide positions but agger and skittles areboth young enough and fast enough to cover these areas (unless the oppo had an out and out wide man i.e lennon or swp) but it would let a lot more focus on attack
