i think the idea of them all talking to the press is a bad one.

however what they're saying is actually that they arent getting carried away. that utd are still clear favourites and that all they'll try and do is win all our games and hope its enough. some say they think it could be, others that they arent counting chickens.

all it does it keep the pressure on utd.

The thing is if your not confident then there's not point taking part in the fight is there? The players have said that we are going to push to the end and we are going the pressure united, but that it is there's to lose.

Confidence to me is one of the things that defines the Liverpool way, it's why we know we can beat anyway in Europe at Anfield. It is why Bill Shankly said “A lot of football success is in the mind. You must believe you are the best and then make sure that you are.”. Paisley talked about being at the club through the bad times, as we finished second once.

Liverpool is based on winning things, and it's about time this squad started to really believe that they can, as otherwise they never will.

Again though, Skrtel says nothing about utd 'crumbling' under the pressure. Media bollocks.
Yeah - I think the two threads were running pretty much teh same course so I have merged them.

I agree with Craig H in that all week I have been reading/listening to LFCplayers and the first thought jumping out in my mind is wanting them to shut the **** up.

You can say all you want that the Mancs already have motivation enough to beat us, but I have read countless articles in the past where a player has described himself as being motivateds by pre match quotes - correct quotes or not. I even remember Djimi Traore saying all the LFC players were fired up by the sound of Milan celebrating at half time in Istanbul. I agree that he should not need any extra motivation, but they are his comments not mine. And every LFC player interviewed since that day has alluded to the fact that the supporters not giving up and the Milan team celebrating gave them that extra edge.

So these quotes do make a difference, like it or not. And in the end they can lead to two different outcomes. The first is the Mancs get hyped up by them and go on and steamroller everyone they play. The second is they crack and allow us back in through the back door. Had things carried on the way they were going, with no pressure from the press, it is likely United would have beat Fulham. They are a better team and when things started to go against them they lost the plot. Had they been 12 points clear they would not have felt the pressure and lost discipline.

So the Mancs clearly have felt a certain amount of pressure. And the only way LFC will have a chance of winning the league is by keeping that pressure on. That includes winning games, and if need be, some quotes in the press.

At present LFC are not going to win the league. I ask everyone of you to seriously think the most likely outcome. And I guarantee that 95% would predict a United title win if the fate of the world depended on it. So in all honesty we have nothing to lose.

If after all these quotes LFC draw with Fulham and United beat Villa it's all been for nothing and makes us all look a bit silly to those on Redcafe. But so what. I don't care too much for pride, I care about a title, one at present we are not going to win. So lets gamble Vegas style and see what happens. Double or quits, put the mortgage on, throw in the car keys and lump it all on.

Go for broke and see if they crack. Best case scenario we win the league. Worst case scenario we look daft. It's a risk I'm more than willing to take.
          Forwards.......

Gerrard, Carragher, now Riera, have all done media articles in the last few days, shouting from the rooftops about winning the league. Even rafa himself.

The facht is that United are still overwhelming favourites and they're in the driving seat. Whatever we do, we still need them to **** up twice.

I remember several occasions when someone at the club has come out in the press talking the talk - and almost every time, it's blown up in our faces.

I just wish they'd keep it buttoned. If we win it, then come out and say whatever you like, but not before.
