    Gerrard Agrees New Contract

    From the Offal.

Great way to start the weekend.

    GERRARD AGREES NEW CONTRACT
    Paul Eaton 03 April 2009
Liverpool Football Club today confirmed Steven Gerrard has agreed a two-year extension to his current contract.

The Liverpool skipper, who has two years to run on his current deal, will soon put pen to paper on a new agreement to keep him at Anfield until at least 2013.

With manager Rafa Benitez and key members of his backroom team signing new contracts over the past two weeks, Gerrard's deal is another timely boost as the Reds look to end the season on a high.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpoolfc.tv this morning, Benitez said: "This is fantastic news for the club.

"Steven has once again shown his commitment and it was an easy deal to agree. As soon as we offered him the option he said yes. There were no problems at all. He wants to stay for life.

"This deal sends out another clear message that we are moving forward as a club. To know we have a player of Steven's quality with us for many more years is a great boost for the club and the fans.

"He is clearly a player who inspires those around him and even though he is playing very well at the moment, I still think his best years are ahead of him."
A humble guy with healthy desire.

            woo. hoo.

sorry if i'm not as excited as you lot but what is there to celebrate? it' not as if there is even the slightest chance of him leaving. besides, i'm still hungover and partying from the exciting news that some backroom staff have signed new contracts.....winning the league would just be an anti-climax now.

No, you're right mate. Having one of the worlds best players extend their stay at the club isn't even worth a mention. I much prefer spending all summer reading about where he is going to go or when we were doing poorly and it looked like our captain and talisman was going to leave

massive news to have that sorted, with rafa signing long term, and now gerrard who must be more than happy then the rest will follow and regardless of what might be or might not be going on in the boardroom - at least for now in the dressing room and on the pitch the players all seem happy and pulling in the right direction.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Blink and it will all be over.

Gerrard is one of the best players every to grace Liverpool and there will be a day when he isn't around and believe me you'll miss him. He's our captain, our talisman and our best player. Any club or nation would have him in their team in fact they would have him as the first name on the team sheet. The fact it's taken 2 weeks to sort this lastest contract out just shows how quickly things are now moving. Everything is positive we just need 3 points tomorrow now.
**** OFF HICKS AND GILLETT WE DON'T WANT YOU.
