That's what league champions do. We've been doing similar this year and consequently, we'll go close (if not win it).

A bit of a clique but its one thing to play bad for a few games and get all the points but when you have been doing it on and off all ****ing season long .. its just a piss take and incredibly lucky ... dont get me wrong our performance against Boro the ****ing worse team in the lg by some distance was criminal and we are complicit in our situation but United abilty to pick up undeserved points this season has gone beyond the pale

The thing is that largely that is due to the fact that they have enough individual players capable of scoring. The only thing that differentiates the records of any of the big teams in terms of deserving the points they have is that to a degree at various points in the season both Chelsea and United have had people play them with fear based on previous seasons rather than this seasons performance. The thing is though that you have to accept that on some level that fear has been deserved. We need to start building the same legacy and I think this season we have made a real start in doing that.

One fact here is that around Christmas we were 8 points clear of them and they made this up, over took us and now have a game on us. That is not a poor team although I would admit they look beatable at the moment.

I think Villa played with No Fear yesterday for 80 minutes, then there arses fell.
I reckon there were a few managers watching us when we played them and have been taking notes.
Who would have thought that Fulhm would beat them 2-0?
Who would have thought that the team who conceeded 5 two weeks ago had United on the ropes for 80 minutes and deserved to win?
I tell ya, there will be a few more shocks for them between now and the end of the season but we have to win EVERY game to have a chance imo.
I know they have players to come back but it only takes two draws for them and the title is ours.
The pressure is ALL on united and they look ****ing nervous were we look confident.

I agree that since our win both teams they have played have had a go and that is very promising. The thing is that other than Blackburn very few other teams have done the same and that contributed to their run of 1-0s in the end the likelihood is that unless your defence is truly excellent one of Uniteds many quality attacking players will get a good chance and if the game remains 0-0 and you are tiring realistically you are likely to be beaten.

It is promising that by having a go more teams will have a chance as Uniteds defence has been built on the idea that attack is the best form of defence and at the minute as a unit they are not performing at their best in that regard.

Unlike Nicey I think if they win the title they will deserve it due to coming through all the challenges they have faced - just as we will if we win it. The only time it can ever really be debatable is if it comes down to goal difference (I'd like to see us go to a play off system in such instances which I believe is what is done in Italy).

i would hate it if it came down to goal difference - especially after we beat them home and away...and chelsea home and away!!!

I genuinely think that united will slip up at least once. I think that if they get arsenal in the semis of the CL, then that is another 2 difficult games thrown into the mix for them and hopefully they will feck up somewhere around then.... also, the toffees in the FA Cup semi could take something out of them too and i am genuinely hoping that they just burn out 3 or 4 weeks before the end of the season.....

I think that everyone is in agreement that this season is as exciting as we have experienced since 1990 though!!!

I just hope we do the best we can. I'd hate for united to draw 2 only for us to draw one as well and feck it up. If we win all our remaining games and they still win the title, then i think we will all be gutted but at the same time, proud of the battle our team gave them........ then we will beat them in Rome for revenge!!!!

As for lucky, luck doesnt win league titles, i'm sorry. They've had some fortune, so have we. Our wins against Boro and Wigan at Anfield werent really deserved. Swings and roundabouts mate.

I'm not saying they're perfect or anything of the sort, but they're not on 68 points due to luck and if they win the title, like any winners of a league over 10 months, they'll have done it by being the best side. Maybe only by a small margin, but the fact remains.
its the same stuff said on here for a few years craig, yet theyve won 2 leagues and a european cup

im all for backing the team and enjoying us trying to fight till the bitter end instead of giving up which is what we could have done before the game against united.

now theres a chance of glory again people are going overboard and will end up going overboard should the team not pull it off in the end.

as for this result not doing anything for them, im sorry but they won a game at the death after being behind for a lot of the game, without 3 of their main defenders aswell as their first choice forwards and quite a few more which left them having to rely on a kid.

make no mistake, winning like that will give them huge belief and confidence that theyve stopped their little rot now. that was probably them at the weakest point theyd ever be yet still won so i cant see how we can take it as a positive, very very gutting seeing that but does it overshadow what yossi did for me? no, because we still have a chance.

                    thats the key, chance, progression.

Is it? I'm no psychologist but I'm certain that if they played as they've played all season except called themselves say... Bolton & played in the Reebok then they'd barely scratch 3rd. If ever there was a team threading entirely on reputation its this one. I've been saying it since the start that this is the worst Utd team in since Djemba Djemba etc & 2nd worst since 1992. They (funnily enough) remind me very much of the 85-86 LFC team. Remember Hansen thought they were the worst he'd ever played in. Won the league though simply by plugging away.

If I'm that far off... bar Rooney name anyone from their starting 11 who'd make ours (ahead of what we already have)? ..... btw if you mention Ronaldo you really should just stop typing, put your head in the bog & flush.

They're NOT that good. The only reason we've been unable to be ahead of them this season is the fact that their squad is A LOT stronger than ours. But they've peaked too early (Jan-mid March) whilst we're only hitting top gear now. I know who my money is on. (...& it is: €20 @ 16-1 from Paddy Power)

Out of their first XI, sticking with our system I wouldn't take Rooney but would say Vidic, Evra and Ronaldo would definitely make our team.

fair enough bud. Maybe its just me (I do have a pathalogical dislike of the 'it') but I really really could never see him in a Liverpool shirt. As for Top 5?? That requires a whole new thread!

Maybe I am 3 months ago I'd have taken Vidic but in reality we have our battler (Carra) & don't see that much between Skittles & Vidic apart from the threat at set pieces. Don't get me wrong but what you'd gain in talent from Vidic you'd lose in general application from Carra.

As for Evra, in hindsight I agree. He's def better than what we have. I guess I was being thrown by his most recent performances.

But no Rooney? playing on the left of the 3? As much as it kills me to say it but I think he'd walk into our team and would probably thrive under Rafa.
