He should just keep his mouth shut. He hasn't a ****ing clue.
Oh I agree, he was very vocal against Rafa, as was Aldridge with monotonous regularity in his Sunday world column.

Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

Plus, his goal agains Russia in euro 88"was a fluke. Came off his shin .

No he was a ****ing cracking player

In Paisleys autobiography back in the 80's he said he was the most underrated player he'd seen during his time at the club

Whelan made the 87-90 sides tick imo

Oh he definitely had superb players around him, but nobody played in those teams of ours on anything other than merit imo. Whelan could definitely play football, every great side needs players like he was.

Was it bollocks, epic strike that was

One thing I do remember him doing though was scoring the best own goal I've ever seen for (against) us v ManU when he lobbed Grobbelaar from about 30 yards.

Good player for us back in day.......**** manager, **** opinions, his ManU love is free to blossom these days and rarely passes up the opportunity to unfairly criticise us, even during our 2nd place finish season.

Beyond **** co-commentator as well..........won't ever backtrack on his view about an incident even with evidence right in front of his face contradicting him, and displays an incredible lack of understanding about how a game is played out.

what a team that was... what an era...
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

There's no doubt about what he gave us back in the day, but in the here and now, if you had to talk football with an ex-Red for the evening, Whelan is right down the bottom of the list (and that would even be if you were talking about his time at Liverpool, which he would probably somehow devalue in his own way - this is a fella who can commentate on any game of the weekend, and turn it into a slagging session about Liverpool)
