Shows people were right to say it was unlikely though.

Regarding Torres, well he was on his own and when you are not built like Crouch and Drogba you need good support, which he didn't really get. Instead the players essentially used him to keep Chelsea pushed back and as a decoy to occupy the two centre backs and Essien. Tactics spot on by Rafa.

On the subject of Carra and Skrtel, I think they did alright, alot better than at Anfield. They were rock solid in the first half. Personally I think they were let down on a couple of occasions by weak full backs.

Arbeloa and Aurelio looked decent in the first half, but Aurelio in particular was dreadfull in the second half. Everytime Lampard came late in the box, he was the one marking him, but instead of getting close he let Fat Frank just jog past him and hit it.

For the first goal Aurelio should never have let Anelka get in a cross from that position, but then he was not helped by Yossi, who after closing the ground on Anelka, eased of and left Aurelio to it.

Now ridiculous errors such as Reinas, and the dreadfull pass by Alonso have to be accepted as being part of football. But lazyness can not be excused, but it is probably the reason we are out.
    Forwards.......

It's odd that, even though we lost I honestly feel sorry for all those fans that support other teams.

      Great effort - well proud.

Shocking decision to leave Lucas on for the full 90 and take Mascherano off. He is a liability and offers nothing to our game. Hopefully Rafa sees sense and gets rid of during the summer.

Also, its time for Agger to get a proper run in the team and give Skrtel a rest.

I'm absolutely gutted. none of this 'the boys did us proud' for me I'm afraid - we lost this tie because of shocking defending and that makes me pissed off - they put 7 goals past us over the 2 legs FFS

Anyway, lets hope the boys can put this to bed quickly and not let it affect the momentum we have going in the league.

Highlight of the night for me was seeing the Chelsea fans celebrate a huge win by waving their spasticated little plastic flags in joy.

                  True supporters to a man.

It made me laugh even when I was completely gutted after Lampard's goal.

Expect to see inflatable bananas and giant foam hands at The Bridge for the semi final.

Great effort by ALL the players tonight. We showed we never give in once again tonight and ok, a few bad decisions from some of our players let them cheating horrible rent boy cunts back into it but we gave em a hell of a game.
A better referee wouldnt have given the Rent Boys so many free kicks tonight IMO, but **** it. Its over now and we gave it our all. What more can you ask and Barca will tear them apart.

Games like tonight are why I love sport, especially football so much. Such a rollercoaster of emotions that you are unlikely to find anywhere else. I was up and down through out that game, incredible to watch, from screaming the house down to getting that sinking feeling.

I actually feel pretty good despite the defeat. I said before hand that I expected us in all honesty to go out, and even at 2-0 thought we still had a tough job to do. The players did what I wanted really, they gave Chelsea a game and they got their pride back.

I would say only Man Utd are up there with us as a club who you can never 100% write off. And the emotions that sort of spirit can bring is simply incredible. Any other club would have been higher than 10/1 to go through tonight.

Yeah he's a ****in liability that got the deflected goal tonight to give us some hope. Leave it out will you FFS and support the TEAM.

Very proud to be a reds supporter today and this week in general. We are a very special club and I couldn't dream of not supporting us and you know the best thing, I actually think with one or two signings over the summer we could be at the start of a new dinesty(sp). Lets keep the number 4 strong and score 4 against the arse next week. YNWA....

He scored a goal so he was proved right in one way.

But Mascherano was our insurance that allowed us to push forward and in the end we missed him.

The only thing Rafa got wrong tonight was at half time. At 2-0 he should have shored it up a bit and asked Mascherano to sit in front of the back four. Chelsea were all at sea and I fancied us to get a goal at some point.
