Jack Hobbs joins Leicester on 4 year deal: Official

Jack Hobbs has made his loan spell at Leicester City permanent and penned a four-year deal with the Foxes.
The 20-year-old defender has spent this season on loan at Nigel Pearson's side and helped them win promotion to the Championship.

Hobbs has joined the club for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking ahead of the club's final home league game of the campaign against Scunthorpe tonight, Hobbs said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my season with the club and I am absolutely delighted to make the move permanent.

"This is a massive club and I believe we can go all the way to the Premier League. That's one of the reasons why I have committed to signing a four-year deal.

"I couldn't be happier here. Leicester have shown great faith in me and instilled me with great confidence. I really am over the moon."

Hobbs signed for Liverpool in August 2005 on his 17th birthday despite playing just three minutes of professional football for Lincoln City.

He was made captain of the reserves during his first season on Merseyside, and also played a key part of the FA Youth Cup winning side of 2006, establishing himself as a rock at the back.

The tall defender made his senior debut as a last-minute substitute during a 4-2 Carling Cup win at Reading on September 25, 2007.

He made five appearances in total for the Reds.

I think this lad showed potential and it's a shame he has been sold. I guess it would be difficult for him to progress though when the likes of Sami and Agger have spent alot of time on the bench this year.

Probably the best move to make for his career.

I think he has the potential to be a decent premiership footballer. He's got a very strong character and is very much a leader. An extra yard of pace and he'd still be at Anfield. I would say that within four seasons he'll be in a premiership squad.

        Maybe even with Leicester actually.

I heard them say tonight that there are 32 players playing in the top 4 divisions who have come through Liverpool's academy, goes to show we have been producing players but the special ones like Gerrard, Fowler, McManaman and Owen are very few and far between
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I can't think of many clubs to have produced four players as good as that in the last twenty years or so, from young boy to England international.

Scums two best started at other clubs. Ryan Giggs at City and Beckham at Spurs. Arsenals best all came from abroad at 16 or so.

Those four mentioned started out at Anfield as young boys.

It pains me that. How many bum reserve players do United sell for X Million? Not saying he's worth more (haven't seen any Leicester games), but no doubt if he played for United, Keane, Bruce, Fat Sam or somebody would have paid five times that.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
