He'd be better going to a mid table team with less expectation to prove himself again, then maybe look fo another step up

    Thats why i mentioned Everton!

I honestly think id take him back. Not to be a starting 11 player, but to be a sub and fighting for a place on the bench with N'gog and Nemeth. I think his performaces would improve dramatically playing for a club he has feelings for and with world class players. Imagine him being fed by Gerrard and Alonso.

On a freebie its a no brainer IMO

i disagree, the little **** needs games to be at his best and not sure he would do well as an impact sub even at his best with us he always needed a run of games to be playing well, not something he would get to much for us.

I think he wants first team football, and we can't give him that, I'm not sure we should consider paying someone £60k week (which is almost halving his current wages) to sit on the bench.

As is mention above he's not really an impact player he needs a run of games to find his form which he won't get with us

He didn't do too badly at RM as a 3rd or 4th choice.

I don't see the point of bringing someone in with big wages with the stated aim of them competing with Ngog and Nemeth. Owen looks totally spent at the minute - I'm not a big fan of the idea of bringing in players who have been dropped from the current Newcastle team. Putting in less effort than Mark Viduka is not a quality that will endear him to Rafa I suspect.

True and it's a good point but he wouldn't be happy to be sitting on the bench and thats all we'd bloody hear about.

I think Rafa would have him back in a deal similar to Fowler but as he said,Owen would not be happy with that type of deal. And Owen is still only 28 aswell where Fowler was 32-33 i think.

I think that Rafa may be playing a bit of a smart game here by coming out publically and saying what he said; basically that if MO wants to come back it will be on our terms; Fernando is the No.1 striker and Owen would not start unless he deserves to. I think it was common sence. If Owen was to come to LFC and say, look I'll come in and work to get fit; wait for my chance and take it from there I think Rafa would have him back. I think any club would. Owen got some idea of his stance in the game when Shearer left him out a 3 man attack. 4th choice at Newcastle is as bad as it gets. He needs to move, get fit, get humble and we could yet see a very good few years from him. Everyone makes mistakes; Owen was a great player for us and as someone said above we'd have been mid-table fodder but for him for a few seasons. I'd say Rafa would take him back if it were on our terms fully and not on what MO preceives as being on his terms.

You talk a lot of sense.

                      Would recommend paragraph usage though.

if he can't get in the team for a club facing relegation, i don't see how he'll strengthen us.
he's certainly not a legend by any stretch of the imagination. he did well for us for a few years.......that's all there is to say really.
