      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

If Rafa could combine Riera and Babel then we would be laughing.

Sorry, so if we are in the best form since the start of the Premiership, we are supposed to forget about our weak first team players? Sounds a bit like papering over cracks.

Everything with you is a crack the size of the grand canyon. There is no real issues with yesterdays performance.Do you ever enjoy football?Have you ever played football at any level?Very rarely (if at all) do you get a perfect performance where every single players touch and pass and shot is perfect in a game.Yesterday,we slaughtered a team in every department and all you and a few others want to do is spout negative bollocks about a player who was part of a great team performance.

You do have thought provoking posts sometimes, but you really do come accross as a wind up merchant on the whole.Either that or you really are a true life Mr V Meldrew!

It is a shame that Babel isn't being given m ore opportunity to prove his talent!
I'm not even sure this is true. What is certain is that in terms of performances on the pitch rather than in people's fantasies Riera has produced considerably more this season.

Riera is clearly a confidence player but to be fair to him even when he isn't flying he puts in a decent shift and his movement gives our team a nice balance. He isn't a world class player but he is one of the better wingers in the division and his contribution has been a valuable part of our improvement this year.

I'm finding it increasingly boring that after every match win or lose people feel the need to single someone out as not being good enough.

Hardly 'slaughtering' him am I ?!

If we want to win the title, I think we need far better in our first choice eleven.

If he wants to stick around as a bit-part squad player I don't mind.

Ive just watched the game again on LFC.tv and I'm frankly bemused by this thread, I'd go as far as to say that Riera was our biggest threat in the first half.

He dicked all over Beye repeatedly, got to the byline at least three times and whipped some great crosses in. Talk to most Newcastle fans, and they'll tell you that Beye has been one of the few positives in a poor season.

Riera gets stuck in, holds the ball up well, is a great outlet with his height and links up well with centre mid and full back. Babel can run fast, and...

Kuyt is loved by the fans of many top teams, especially united. Christ, the ones i know rave about his football brain and his drive, and think he's an essential part of why we're doing so well.

Having said that, none of them mention Riera so either you're on too something there, or he's one of them players that just doesn't catch the eye.

Call it what you want.Starting a thread highlighting nothing, aimed at knocking a player when we have played really well is wrong I think. He has considerably improved the team this year and given a great balance and shape to it.Infact, I thought he had a good game yesterday and showed some nice touches and put a few decent balls in.

It may be true that Babel has more technical ability than Riera. But it isn't technical ability alone that makes you a good player. Riera has a better team awareness and attitude in applying his ability than Babel, which is why Riera is getting games ahead of Babel
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He has been consistently average to poor this season. I wasn't basing my opinions on yesterday's game.

Wingers (despite there inconsistencies) frequently win man of the match awards (Aaron Lennon, Ashley Young, Ronaldo etc etc). I can't think of a single game where he has deserved the MOTM award - (he might possibly have come close to it against Aston Villla at home). He's not good enough - it's as simple as that.
what part of "its his first season" didnt u grasp mate? give the lad a break ffs. wingers inherently are fickle in there performances, why slag the guy off when were this close?
