i never understand if anderson will/would qualify? he's been registered to us but has been on loan. in the event he turns into a world beater i'd be pissed to have him not qualify when fabregas does. likewise hobbs if he were to ever come back - though i think he's half a season or thereabouts short of his 3 years

The 3 years wouldn't apply to either of them as they are both English anywayOriginally posted by cumbriankop View Posti never understand if anderson will/would qualify? he's been registered to us but has been on loan. in the event he turns into a world beater i'd be pissed to have him not qualify when fabregas does. likewise hobbs if he were to ever come back - though i think he's half a season or thereabouts short of his 3 years

of the 25 players each club registers for the Champions League, at least 4 must have been developed by the club’s academy, and another 4 must have been developed by the club’s academy or an association club’s academy(4+4).
By developed, they mean trained for 3 years between the age of 15 to 21.
so although they count as english - would they be able to count as in the 4 we helped train, despite being on loan? this is not important if we have enough of our own youth (as in gerrard and carragher style from aged 9 etc) but could be.
it does baffle me that arsenal will probably have the highest 'homegrown' quota for counting as their own academy - despite only having a couple of englishmen (walcott should count as arsenal's not southampton from next year)
while we will in time benfit from this with LDV etc counting as homegrown it seems contradictory to the rule of developing your own young players, and just makes teams buy them even younger

settled via UEFA
UEFA.com
Definitions:
A club-trained player is defined as a player who has been registered for a minimum of three seasons with the club between the age of 15 and 21, whereas an association-trained player is one who has been registered for at least three seasons by the club or by other clubs affiliated to the same association between the age of 15 and 21.
anderson etc would count despite being on loan - similar to vela et al at arsenal, which again i find absurd

Jack Hobbs joined us at 16 and left at 20, Paul Anderson signed at 16 and is still with the club at 20 so both would qualify as our homegrown players if they were ever included in CM squads by LiverpoolOriginally posted by cumbriankop View Postof the 25 players each club registers for the Champions League, at least 4 must have been developed by the club’s academy, and another 4 must have been developed by the club’s academy or an association club’s academy(4+4).

Richards is ****!!! He's not good enough for our reserve team!! I'd bring back Rob Jones before spending £1 on Richards!Originally posted by Imy View PostReina

IMO opinion we should bring in:-
1 new CB, young, happy to be a squad player, they should either be promoted from the reserves or cost no more than £5m.
Left Midfield - either Michel Bastos from Lille or Pranjic from Heerenveen - I think we could get either for around £10m.
1 new striker - If we can get Keirrison for less £12m or less we should get him, if not i'd go for Helmes, Dzeko or Ibisevic from Germany.
Finally if we have the cash we should go for an expensive flair midfielder, my first choices would be Ribery of Diego.
I think Lucas and Benayoun should stay.
