His problem was that he could never dominate games, just because he wasn't physically up to it. He's got a very good short passing range and his movements are terrific IMO, especially in the attacking third. He's made space for himself so many times last season and found himself with great goalscoring opportunities, even though he lacked the finishing touch to prove that. But with experience this will come.

There's more than meets the eye with Lucas, and some people will be surprised.

I for one have been sometimes pissed off with his play and have said so on a few occasions , But he showed in the Newcastle game ( away) that he has the talent he just needs to be more consistant , obviously the lad has talent because he was sounded out by a lot of big teams before he joined us IMO there might be a mental thing aswell as a physical thing because he must be brilliant in training but in match situations he sometimes freezes this can be expected off a young player and I for one really hopes he makes me eat a lot of humble pie ( served up by Gordan Ramsey)

to be fair to the lad he is 22!!! Centre Mids and centre defender's very very rarely look superb before probably 25.

to put it into context the young fletcher at scum is 25, the likes of viera's and fabregas's are few and far between.

he may well turn into a superb aquisition, next season isa big one for him imo

Didn't they just, but we threatened such performances throughout the season imo, especially towards the end during our best form, some games we created chances galore but came away 2-0 winners or some such similar score.

edit. Ah right, just realised this is about Lucas, and obviously the comment was in relation to what effect he had on that game.

I don't believe all this such a player isn't good enough for them or so he isn't good enough for us, or we shouldn't be signing somebody because he wouldn't get in the Man Utd/Chelsea/Arsenal team etc. Different teams play different ways you get good players who look woeful because the system doesn't suit them, and average players who look excellent because the system suits them perfectly change the team and they aren't the same player.

Very true. For example, how many of us would want the likes of fletcher, ji sung, hargreaves or anderson at LFC? yet Fletcher has more premiership winning medals than the whole LFC squad put together!! Lucas is nothing special at all though. He's about as average as a player can be.

I actually think Fletcher's a very useful and underrated player. Hargreaves is good if he can remain fit.
