Best away record in the league & 2nd place nearly wrapped up

Our away record is sublime this year, 40 points out of a possible 54, second to none.

Remember Rafa's first season, when we were ****e away from home?

Only 5 wins, 3 draws and 11 ****ing defeats.

This year, 12 wins, 4 draws and only 2 defeats (the only 2 in the league all season) and one of them was a freak defeat, where we battered Spurs and yet somehow contrived to lose.

How's that for a turn around? Shows just how much we've improved in that time. Great stuff.

And on another point, one more win will seal 2nd place too, which again is a nice improvement on previous years, when we've been fighting to the end just to secure CL football.

Rafa has slowly built the team he wants on limited funds. So due to our limited budget he has had to do it over 4 seasons but has now got their or is very close.

I think it is not only the team that has learnt alot this season but also rafa as he is not rotating as much as he had to in the past due to the squad being not up to scratch then.

When asked about rotation he now says that the team and squad is really strong and not much rotation is needed.

Roll on next season and the summer

We lost 11 times away in Rafa's first season?

It's amazing to see the transformation of our football club over the last few years. I was thinking earlier how depressing it was during the Houllier years (ok I know we won a few trophies but the football we played was dire).

Agree with all of that but, while i dont want to get into a different debate, i'm not having the 'limited budget' bit

Yep, amazing really. It was the season we finished 5th (and won the CL) but we were dire away from home.

All great stuff and we really have improved this year.

But this football club is all about winning trophies and Stevie's 40 yard pearler against West Ham in the FA Cup seems so long ago now. Three empty seaons.

We HAVE to win something next year.

I figured that's what you meant.

I was just thinking that certain other PL clubs would be choking on their cornflakes if they read that LFC have had to work with a small budget in the past few years

Yes agree with this thread, on a possitive we have secured CL group stages possition so a summer without the distractraction of playing a CL qualifier

                        It's title-winning away form.

As you say it really is amazing when you consider our problems away from home not so long ago.

Only the mystifying non-performance at Boro was in any way reminiscent of the frequent capitulations away from home in Rafa's early years (and also in the latter days of Houllier's reign). Other than that it's been near-faultless stuff.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

As disappointed as I am at United taking home number 18 (barring a miracle), we've had a great season. Our away record has been superb. Only two losses so far. Highest-scoring team in the league and best goal difference. 14 of a possible 18 points against United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

We've just got to figure out how to eliminate the two months of nonstop **** football that seems to occur without fail every season. I just hope we can win our final two and bring this momentum into next season.

We have to sign some quality players in the summer and hope they have the desired impact.

Can't expect us to beat Chelsea and Man Utd home and away again so we will have to pick up a lot more points against the lesser sides.
                            Forwards.......
