Kuyts been outstanding this season. Ok so he has some technical flaws in his game. His control / first touch at times can be substandard but his football brain, energy levels, positional sense and big game mentality make up for this. He is a nightmare to play against. He is undroppable on current form IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I'm also a fan of Kuyt, but to be completely fair how many of those goals have come when he's been played as a striker?Originally posted by red g View Postin fact name me the last wide player to get into double figures in the premiership part from ronaldo ????
B8ut yeah, he's definitely lifted up this season. Amazing what a prolonged spell of confidence can do.

i dont think this is true because riera has played a lot of games and has produced nowhere near the results kuyt has. Just because you play for a big team doesnt mean you perform as to how you should.Originally posted by wavydavy View PostAny decent player, which is what Kuyt is, picked week-in week-out for the 2nd best (best?) side in the country should return similar stats to Kuyt. It is just that in my opinion that his overall game isn't great and can be improved upon. We wouldn't get our money back would we? The fact that stats have to be used constantly to support his case say's it all for me. I think he survives because he fits into Rafa's style/ philosophy and basically does exactly what he's told. Like I said in my earlier post I don't think any of the other top dozen or so sides in Europe would give him the time of day. Sorry all, that's just what I think.
Kuyt is a team player and yes he plays to orders. But even in our great teams of the past, we havent necessarily played with two out and out creative wingers. If you look back to the last great side we had where barnes was on the left it was mirrored by having ray houghton on the right.
Ray houghton wasnt the most creative or the best technical player - but he did the basics and provided goals and assists from the right hand side. We need to balance what kuyt adds on the right with a proper creative force on the left - a player who can genuinely open up defences and a player who doesnt necessarily run 8 miles each match.
It would be interesting to see rooney's stats for the season and how they compare to kuyts.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

I've slated Kuyt in the past, but towards the end of last season he has upped his game and has been even better this season. It says a lot for me that personally, I am not looking at the RW we can sign this year, instead I am looking at LW I would like to come to the club.Originally posted by wavydavy View PostAny decent player, which is what Kuyt is, picked week-in week-out for the 2nd best (best?) side in the country should return similar stats to Kuyt. To improve your squad you need to ditch the players who have performed the least, and he is not one of those. If next season Kuyt and the LW both add 10 goals and 10 assists in the league I think we would be champions.Forwards.......

we need players like Kuyt to win the PL
He has the right attitude
He works hard
And has chipped in with goals and assists.
never goes missing
out and out wingers will go missing in big games just look at Ronaldo etc. Watching a wingers highlights is soooo different than watching them week in week out.
He has his failings but we won't loose games because off them and his strengths are one of the reasons we score goals at the end of the game, he must be hell to play against and he keeps on going. Its times like these we learn to live again FF

I completely disagree, but surely the fact that he fits into Rafa's style and philosophy is all we can hope for? How can a player be better suited to us?Originally posted by wavydavy View PostAny decent player, which is what Kuyt is, picked week-in week-out for the 2nd best (best?) side in the country should return similar stats to Kuyt. He starts for Holland in the same position and I genuinely think most managers would like him in their squadSack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge
