The issue of PTS members not utilising the service was relatively easy to solve, if a member does not use x number of tickets each season then either increase the fee for the following season or re-allocate the ticket to another person on the waiting list.

Also I do apply for more games through the year but fail as they are either sold out by the time I get through on the phone or I cant sit and wait on the phone for a few hours trying to get through due to my work commitments. I liked the sysyem as I got to go to a few games and always thought if the other members were like me it was a fair system. I can see that it may have had its touts but surely if they tried they could find these out. As previously said I think tis is purely done now to get new punters to each game to spend more cash on match day.
Like you, I live some way from Anfield (about 250 miles) and I figure it costs me at least £100 per game that I visit so I'm often spending more on supporting the club than those lucky enough to be ST holders that live within city limits. The PTS gave me the opportunity to get a ticket for most games so I was happy to pay a little extra for this. I really can't see how I will get a ticket for next season if instead of 10,000 people I might have to compete with to get through on the phone/web, I've now got 50,000.

You could wake up early on sale dates, log in, and buy tickets - like loads do.

Loads do buy them like this on the general sale. Hence the fact that they sell out within a couple of hours. I think the club were referring to the PTS sales when they implied that not many fans tend to buy many tickets via that route.

Dunno about the computer never getting through, if you time your login right, you should be fine. Working 7am-6pm must make it hard to ring the PTS line too.
