I remember the days when season tickets were excellent value - you put up all the money in one go and up front, so you're basically buying in bulk and in advance, but it used to get you a fairly good discount, compared to buying each game one by one.
It's different now though.
I've been offered a ST for next season, at the handsome price of £682, and that's just for the 19 league games.
So 682 divided by 19 = £35.89.
How much are tickets normally? Well, for the main stand, which is where the Season Ticket would be, it's between £36 and £38, depending on whether it's a Category A or B match.
So it's a mighty saving (at most) of £2.11 per game, or £40.09 over the whole season.
So the bonus for stumping up nearly £700 in one go, during a recession, is a saving of £40.
Kind of a 'buy 18, get one free' deal.
It's pretty ****e really. Never used to be like this.
