Do you not think he'll do what he's told ffs. If Rafa tells him to sit back and hold, then that's what he'll do.Originally posted by DeeGameNot if he is 60 yards up the other end of the pitch
We've got 3 options that is all - Gerrard, Alonso, Zenden - of all of those Alonso is probably the most defensive minded, but also the most unlikely to play.
The Alonso-Zenden pairing wouldn't have enough power to deal in midfield, so I think it's almost certain Gerrard will play there, and most likely with Zenden.
There is also the possibility of playing all 3 in a 4-5-1, but we are at home, so we will have to see.Thomas Hicks Senior

Probably a good idea seeing as he's right.Originally posted by Chris*Gives up*
Gerrard is a great defensive player, but is prone to going forward into the box. Gala wasn't an "off game", it simply served to highlight the fact that when Stevie piledrives forward then loses the ball acres are created for the midfield to run into leaving the player sitting back (Alonso in this case) completely alone and overwhelmed

His original point was "Stevie will not play in CM". Rafa has already shown he'll play him in central mid so how exactly is he right? Thats not to say he doesnt prefer Alonso and Sissoko because he clearly does but he's not totally against Gerrard in the middle as he's already shown this season.Originally posted by NICKZSProbably a good idea seeing as he's right.
If Rafa thinks Gerrard is right for central mid on Saturday, he'll do it.

I have no doubt of that, but it stands to reason really doesn't it.Originally posted by ChrisHis original point was "Stevie will not play in CM". I was simply referring to the fact that DeeGame was right in suggesting that Gerrard leaves the middle of the pitch exposed at times, not that Benitez won't play him in the centre. Personally, I think it is a good option against the likes of Blackburn who can be allowed space, to a point. It is suicide against better opposition though

Oh, definitely. And its ****ing annoying when not one pundit acknowledges that when criticising Benitez every week for playing him out wide.Originally posted by NICKZS

Anyway, heres to smashing these yard dog ****s all over the place on Saturday with Gerrard scoring and tackling back. And Bellamy getting a hattrick against his former club.
