RE Carlsberg's Last Orders for Liverpool Deal

I tell you what folks, say what you like about G & T but one thing is for sure, they are very astute business men and commercially very savy.

I cant go into to much detail for fear of getting my contacts in trouble but lets just say I have had dealings with a couple of companies who have worked with Liverpool FC pre and post G & T

One one occasion whilst taking about the potential of the EPL in Asia we got onto Liverpool ... apparently we were practically giving our brand away for nothing here before the Americans rocked up. Once they did, costs of being associated with Liverpool Fc rose almost 1000 % and rightly so. For all the people who could not get clobber in the Offical LFC shop, well with the exception of the website, the entire commercial operation was previously run like this.

Today it would seem we have people driving very hard bargains to get top dollar for our club, so much so this years pre season trip to Hong Kong was canceled because they would not cough up Real Madrid fees. Again rightly so I say we are one of the premium sports brands in the world we should be getting absolutely top dollar on every single commercial actitivy.

So the upshot of all this, if there is one massive benefit of having these guys on board is this, commercially we are far far stronger, operationally probably better run taking creative financing to one side and they are in the business of success with some track record, I am starting to think after there initially disastrous start, teething problems, early relationship jitters, this could be the start of something beautiful

If and when they start the stadium I'll agree with you.

A bad start slowly improving, but that will remain a bugbear.

To be fair I think the timing of their acquisition was possibly the worse in the last 100 years, it made them look like they were blowing smoke up our arseholes when now I think genuinely they had a very clear plan on what they wanted to do. Then the Global Credit Market shat its pants and all bets were off and exsisting bets just became a whole lot more expensive. They ****ed up royally on the Media side, but it would seem they have learnt from there initial disastrous mistake. I dont know I am changing my mind slowly but surely.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Still completely unconvinced, but there;s no doubt they will improve income- as it is in their own interests.

Its good to have some positive spin on G&H for a change. I hope you're right.

BTW, if the pre season trip to HK was cancelled, where is it now? If there is no alternative then was it really a wise move?

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

They're not as bad as people think they are. They're ugly outspoken *******s, unlike most Americans who I generally love, in fact I wish I was one myself, but that's about it. We're sure to get the best out all the potential deals with these guys in charge, hopefully the money will be re-invested into the club, not into their pockets.

This has been lost on an awful lot of people.

Can you say if Carlsberg are happy meet the asking price?
                  Oh I don't know.

The first thing anyone would have done was to improve the commercial side of the club, we were so far behind everyone else and still have a lot of catching up to do. Its a shame all this extra income is going straight towards interest payments instead of the club and with no new stadium on the horizon, its really hard to get excited about our esteemed owners.

If you want to talk about track records, look no further than the Texas Rangers, some success thats turned out to be.

We'll have the stadium, they aren't that dumb. It's just a case of waiting for the worst of the credit crunch to pass. I'm pretty sure they have got a strong business case to push on with the stadium. Let's not let all the speculation get to our heads.

What's on with you? Are you American? Is it not all speculative what we are discussing?

Please, before replying, take great care about what you'll say. I won't hold back next time.

I would rather our interest payments be met by increasing club revenue streams than by dipping into the transfer budget.

I'm with Nicey on this, I think barring the stadium, Stadler & Waldorf have done a good job so far.
