You're right though. In games when Xabi's a sub, we're nearly always disjointed. Then he comes on and we instantly improve.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View Posterm.. i said not just today, its just today's game has brought back memories when we have looked this way during the season without him
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Newcastle games really shouldn't count for anything. If they did, we'd be called an awesome set piece team. Lucas had one good game where he looked like a playmaker.Originally posted by dww View PostI'm not so sure about that. The Man Utd and Newcastle games with Mascherano and Lucas went pretty well. I agree that Alonso is one of the players with the character to make us play in a way that controls the game but it is pretty clear that we are playing a fitter team than us and with us having players who are not used to playing together other than in training.
It would certainly be a blow to lose Alonso but it could be compensated for.
The problem with Xabi is really simple. Let's say the CB's have the ball, who do they give it to? I don't want Mascherano with that first ball, and Gerrard shouldn't drop that deep. Xabi is an absolute master at taking the ball from defence and distributing it with purpose. Lucas hasn't shown he can be that type of player other than one game against freaking Newcastle, so if Xabi goes, we need someone to come in and immediately take control of our game. That's difficult to find.
