I'm a Liverpool fan and I don't expect us to win training matches. As long as the players get fitter and don't pick up injuries, that'll do me.

Then again I remember when we used to win the League all the time and no-one gave a **** about meaningless results in pre-season friendlies.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

There were no internet forums back then though!

Pre-season is primarily an opportunity for the bench players, reserves and youngsters to showcase their skills and nothing more. Win or lose the most important thing is not to pick up any nasty injuries and be physically fit for the grueling PL campaign.

Yeap! I was a tad about Yossi when he went down and stayed down for a while.. anyone knows if it's all ok?

Also Agger's and Darby's and Glen Johnson's "slight niggles"?

edit: saw rafa's comments about GJ.. good to know...

On the lighter side, it's good to see the lads being light-hearted and having fun on the sidelines... aside from Agger who kept yawning LOL poor laddy..

Did anyone see Torres stealing Riera's sandwich/bun and stuffing it in his mouth and Riera reaching over and grabbing what remained of it and quickly finished it off? That was funny hehe

What the hell was that about? Really random act that. funny but strange. Also did you see Agger yawning at every opportunity. The guys on LFC TV came straight out with it, "Keeping you up are we Daniel?"

Well, it's not like Spurs are setting the world on fire... seriously, we have no Spaniards in the team and we have 3 + weeks to get fit. Take it for what it's worth-- a fun run out for lots of player combinations we would never see otherwise.

We're never going to win the league playing like this!!!!

Fitness is obviously key, but you also like to see some match sharpness too, so that when the season starts, we're not trailing. Sharpness would mean looking threatening and offering something in the final third. It's not a problem yet, but in the next couple of games, we need to start seeing some progress.

2 teams.....who are equal in fitness, both have 3 weeks to go till the season starts.

I like the way Rafa is obviously pushing our fitness harder by playing against fitter teams

I actually was going to make that point (about last years Spurs preseason). I tend to think results are all but immaterial (unless you are getting thrashed) and performances are key. At this stage the important thing is getting as many players fitter as quickly as possibly. As it develops I think the fitness will lead to players thinking better and more general sharpness will follow.
