Aren't odds ultimately set by the market?.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

£20 on City is money down the drain. They'll do well to finish 6thOriginally posted by magicalbarnes View PostI think its because of the timing of the prices and there is still plenty of time until the transfer window closes.
IF the current squads stay as they are, expect our odds to drop. However Fergie has the Ronaldo money burning a hole in his pocket.
Chelesa will also be at that price as their best player (Essien) was missing a majority of last season, yet they only finished a few points behind us.
I genuinley think we will win it this season, and i aint thought that for ages. Im glad i stuck £20 on City last month though at odds of 40/1.

Same in the CL usually. Every season recently without fail we've 4th longest odds to win the CL of out of the 4 English qualifiers (I believe we've crept ahead of Arsenal this time). We're also usually the longest odds for who goes farthest in the competition despite the fact that, as shown last season when we were UEFA's No 1 seed for the CL, because we had the best record of any team in the competition over the previous 5 seasons, not just among the English clubs. It's crazy really.

Our attacking play in our first two friendlies has been shocking.Originally posted by -V- View Post

You think number 2 still applies to the mancs, without Cristiano 'has bailed them out again' Ronaldo and Carlos 'pops up with a last minute winner' Tevez?Originally posted by -V- View Post1. We have failed every year for the last 20

same here, rather let the others have the hassle of favourites tag.Originally posted by Reece View PostIt is indeed a bit odd, but I'd rather we weren't installed as favourites anyway to be honest, so it's fine by me.

I think that having the best record in the competition of any club in Europe over 5 years would have had bookies and pundits in general perhaps thinking in one of the previous years in the sequence that perhaps there was just the merest hint of a chance we might possible progress further than at least one of the other English clubs. It's only the bookies'/pundits' expectations that we've exceededOriginally posted by red g View Postnope it justs that we have exceeded expectations under Rafa time after time

Who have Man U got? 13-14 league goal scorers Fatboy and Berbatov, with an ageing Owen who failed to score in his last 12 Newcastle appearances. Please don't say Wellbeck and Macheda or I'll fall off my chair laughing.Originally posted by -V- View Post1. We have failed every year for the last 20

Arsenal? No Adebayor now, so only Bendtner as a central striker. Arshavin is a central midfielder and Van Persie's a wide man. Chelsea have just Drogba and Anelka. I don't see this massive gap up front that you perceive - and let's not forget we were comfortably top goalscorers last season

Ferguson has always pulled off something after he's sold his best players though so I won't bet them against them doing very well this year. We can't rule them out, they still have Owen Hargreaves to come from injury.
