QUOTE=Marky;1387816]If Lucas is to make it at Liverpool then it will be this season, anyone agree?

He's not as bad as people make out but he has to really put himself about, help control the midfield and stamp his authority on a match. He has the technical ability to succeed, whether that's enough we'll soon find out.[/QUOTE]

Agree. I hope he kicks on this year but I doubt that he'll ever reach the heights that Xabi has reached.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

And yet another Liverpool midfielder attracting interest is Lucas Leiva, who is being tracked by Brazilian side Corinthians.

Reports in Brazil have stated Corinthians president Andres Sanches has declared the club keen to take the 22-year-old back to his home country.

I can think of only two plausible reasons.
          1. Rafa has a blind spot about Lucas and is simply wrong.
          2. Rafa sees something in him many don't.

I don't rule out either possibility. For 1., it's perfectly possible Rafa has misjudged his ability even though, as you say, he's noticed others' shortcomings pretty quickly. For 2., he sees him in training, he knows what he has asked the lad to do in matches and he could see him as still developing since not all players mature at the same time.

In favour of 2., I suppose there is also the possibility supporters tend to underestimate the importance and contribution of squad players.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

i see him as exactly that, a good squad player nothing more, nothing less.
To make him Xabi's replacement would be sheer mental imo.

39 matches(20 starts) for a squad player of his capability is far too many imo.hence i'll go with reason 1.

You're building your assumptions into your analysis. That's fine but don't kid yourself you're looking at this with even the tiniest amount of objectivity.

I think we've not seen the best of Lucas because he has been asked to cover for both Mascherano and Alonso when they've been out. He's not really the same type of player as either of them so obviously hasn't done as well as them in their positions, also when filling in for them he's not being able to play his natural game. If he were to be a regular(and I'm not saying he should or he shouldn't be) I think he'd be playing a different way to the way we've seen him play for us so far. He's still only young and will improve.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The echo is suggesting that whilst Lucas is one for the future, if Alonso does leave we will be in the market for a direct replacement.
                      Forwards.......

Yeah must be him being a really accurate passer, having good control, being pretty decent in the air, getting a few assists and being able to pass the ball. Of course it could be your problem not his.

Passing appears twice in you list of Lucas' attributes and I don't think it really deserves to be there once.

I'd preffer Lucas to Momo, not the Momo before he got his eye kicked in, but todays Momo. Do we not remember how awful he became at the end of his stay?
