as it stands at the moment, they are too weak. they have lost a lot of quality and have yet to replace them. the youngers are good but over the course of the season they wouldn't sustain a challenge. untill they splash the cash and buy top notch replacements i can see them really struggling for a europa league finish.

not that unbeleivable. as it stands right now we have not added enough quality to replace what we have lost / will lose. the names being linked with us are pathetic. manure will no doubt beat us to the silva signing. untill we buy real quality to replace what we will lose, i can see us facing a battle for 4th.

What to replace Arbeloa? I think that is beyond pessimistic.

They are not going to finish out of the top 8 though. I'd put money on that.

dont get me wrong, i'm delighted to get johnson. far better attacking full back then arbeloa but defensively i'd say arbeloa may just shade it.

i'm thinking more along the alonso / masher situation. lee cattermole as a 12 million replacement would be the biggest step back i have seen in our history.

And you really think that would happen, I certainly don't. Especially as if we did sell Alonso its a hell of a lot more likely we'll get Aquilani as a replacement

They'll not come out the top 4. Watched both their games this weekend and they've still got that special ability. I've no doubt they'll sign a few players, but even if they didn't I'd still fancy them to come above a 5th placed City.

i'm not convinced this aquilani boy would come to us. lot of talk bout him not wanting to leave italy. rafa loves to sign random players and cattermole fits that perfect.

                              At the mo?
                              We need 2 more players.
Backup for Torres and a major midfield presence.

If key players come in - in red.

the bit bout rafa signing random players? what i kind of meant from that is that he has history of signing players right out of left field. josemi, kromkamp, leto, pennant, drossena all players virtual unknowns and kinda not what we expected or wanted rafa to sign but he plucked them from obscurity. i see cattermole being that kind of player.
