    Xabi Alonso appreciation thread

Will you ever forget Xabi missing that penalty and the split second of sick disappointment before he pops up again and powers in the rebound to send a rush of adrenaline pumping so hard through your veins that you thought your head was going to explode? I won't.

I'll really miss having him in our midfield....having a player like him. That unmistakable upright style of play. I always shouted for our lads to 'GIVE IT XABI!'. Always felt so comfortable when Alonso was in possession. Having suffered a few ball-allergic types like Diao over the years, it was a beautiful thing when Xabi got the ball.

Xabi will be missed, he has given us much in the time he was here. Such a comfortable possessor of the ball and one of the best passers in the world.

Hope he does well in Madrid and takes out Ronaldo by accident at training!

I knew it was coming but am still gutted he left. Good luck to him.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Who is going to get our opponents sent off next season

Hope he hits his previous years form and we buy him back next summer for ten million

Tremendous player; had his long patch of poor form, but a legendary passer.

Will be missed but we have to move on.

Agree with every word there mate

Edit: Does leave a bitter taste though when Alonso mentioned getting everything sorted "as soon as possible. For better or for worse".

Obviously ive been expecting it but it doesnt really soften the blow any. Let's hope we replace him with a player or two of similar quality although i doubt we'll see his like again.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
