He played in Gerrards position today, and did well, almost scored one more.

Good to see Skrtel easing himself back in to action gently!

Pepper back from injury according to liverpool.no

These were the only players available, seeing as the internationals are away and the U-18s also.
No Carragher yet? Hopefully he's responding well to treatment, and with having a full preseason the need for match time wasn't worth risking him, and he'll be good for Sunday.

Some people think that Glen Johnson can't defend.....

Benitez will soon enough turn him into a top class defender, you can be certain of that. He has all the attributes required, just needs to know when to attack and when to sit back, most importantly needs to develop an understanding with Kuyt.

That however was a way OTT article. Johnson has been top class for England for the most part and has made the RB his own with a series of assured performances in both attack and defence. Last night Barry and Ferdinand made much big errors yet get only a small mention. It wasn't as though that was Johnsons debut FFS.
                        Forwards.......

I have to say that there is an element of truth to the article although it is obviously ludicrously one sided. I didn't see the game but there are numerous occasions in the past when I have questioned Johnson's decision making and worried about his ability at the top level. I think he is a gamble for us even if I think it is one with decent odds of making us a better team.

i think there is no doubt he is going to have to have thick skin as i am sure he will be put under the microscope even more.

I am sure he will cost us a few goals.....but equally sure he will create more

I dunno, Cole has been a defensive liabilty all his life, but as an overlapping fullback he's Englands best hope, same with johnson on the right i feel.

Ashley Cole? He's an excellent defender.
