    Season Predictions - Paul Merson says....

    The "bonkers" buy of the season is Glen Johnson!

    If you're looking for value in a footballer, then I wouldn't pay £18million for Glen Johnson. The Premier League is not blessed with 15 world-class left wingers so I don't see how a right-back can affect a game that much. I've got nothing against the player; I think he was outstanding for Portsmouth last year, but I just don't think you should be spending that amount of money on somebody who plays at right-back.

    Its his view. But when Johnson gets in the PL team of the season and helps us win number 19 with 10 assists, we'll be justified.

    I wish more of the pundits spoke their mind, even if its complete tosh.

                  That's one of the craziest arguements I've ever heard, if it was valid you could make the same arguement about any position, so there's no point in signing anyone.
                  The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                            worst argumentation ever!

                            That said I also believe we paid over the top for Johnson, but I guess we need english people for the CL registration and it is an improvement on the RB situation.
