Aye, people take a really simplistic view of his transfer dealings, exluding sales & gradual increase in squad quality & depth. Few things wind me up more in the world of footy.Originally posted by fredo View Post
And what he's done with this money year in year out is just fantastic.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Well I loved this article, primarily of course because I'm pro-Rafa and it does a great job of highlighting what remarkable work Rafa has done.
How can that emailer possibly argue Benitez has made only six successful signings?
Rafa has put us in a position where many people are making us favourites for the title. It is a squad that came within a whisker of winning the title last season.
Of the 18 on duty in Istanbul, only Gerrard and Carragher remain - meaning, bar those two, Benitez has overhauled and re-built an entire squad, and all for the princely net spend (the only relevant spend) of £85m over five years. I think that's unbelievable.
And yet too many people/pundits/journos still claim Benitez is **** in the transfer market and hasn't bought well. He's bought a ****ing squad now on the cusp of being champions, and he's bought it on a relative shoestring. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

With regards to that though, and Plod's post - it's a bit sad to slag someone off when they're not there to defend themselves, isnt it?
Probably. It wasn't particularly at Rashid, he was just the only person I could remember that came out with that. Didn't you actually?

You're right od course , aye but when I slagged him off when he was here I got told off last time. Not that I care like- had he deserved it (which he probably would) this time, I'd have done the same. Happenstance, he was happily "on holiday" again before I noticed he was back tho. Funny that.3rd place. Worst champions ever.
