and yet despite all this i'd really like to see him given a proper run upfront. his few chances he has been put up there he's been decent
he looks **** because he isnt playing in a position suited to his strengths. If you put Torres out on the left he'd look terrible too.

The funny thing is that even the dutch play him on the left and i cant understand why that is because his left foot isnt that great and certainly his delivery from the left is pretty poor.

if anything i would be tempted to play him on the right.

there's more to come from this lad and we might only see it when he's played up front or behind the striker. but i wouldnt write him off because he's started this season very well and hopefully we will see the real babel and not just the hype that surrounded him.

In the absence of Alonso, I can see SG playing further back with someone needing to push up alongside Torres - I hope Babel can make that position his.

Nah, Lucas and Aquilani will be in Alonso's old role.

No he wouldn't, Torres would still do well. The problem is Babel just has no brain, which is a shame because if he can get his head around he could be a an excellent player.

Fair point - Initially though, I think SG will have to drop back to give Lucas a hand.

I think today's performance against Spurs has proved that argument.

stop playing babel wide. use him where we can utilise his pace. with the amount of long balls today, we'd have a better chance if we can have him & torres chasing them.

the problem was he wasn't playing wide today he just wasn't playing.. never anywhere to be found!

He was wasted on the wing today. Didnt get much space.

Babel was awful today, he did nothing

                                Got to agree

He also looked very nervy in possession and didn't use the biggest asset to his game at all. His positional sense is sorely lacking too

I thought after the first 10 mins that we were going to see him play well, he looked sharp and tracked back a little also, which I took to mean he was listening to Rafa more

Couldn't have been more wrong. He was rubbish
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
