Essays aside, is it possible for a mere mortal poster on a forum to disagree with the manager and be right?Originally posted by Assassin View PostNo, thats your opinion. Of course you can disagree. But on the balance of expertise and knowledge you are in all probably incorrect as Rafa as you know is one of the best managers in the world. Even someone like yourself who likes to be right all of the time should be able to understand this reasoning
Its not really about being right or wrong. It is more about people constantly slagging off a player ( before you start, I am aware you dont go slagging Lucas off as much as other do), who is is trying his hardest to adapt to the toughest league in the world.
IMO Lucas is a talented player (you do not become player of the year in brazil if you are not extremely talented), howeever, he was a little lightweight. But look at the way he has bulked up in over the last year in order to become a player that can handle the rigours of the premier league.
I just wish people would start saying "well played" to Lucas rather than having digs at him uneccesarily. At the end of the day his performances are improving all the time. Long may it continue.
Yes or no?

People post many things on here and you have often asked people to justify their post with fact. Nothing wrong with that.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWhat do you mean 'justified'?
Why do people need to justify if they rate a player/signing or not?
It would be a bit silly if I posted something like Gerrard is ****, but then never bothered posting why. Because that would be totally pointless.Forwards.......

I dont think it's necessary to 'justify' an opinion of Lucas not quite being good enough. With some players, they just ARE brilliant and it goes beyond opinion - it's fact, for example, that Gerrard isnt anywhere near ****. Suggesting he was, would clearly be foolish.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostPeople post many things on here and you have often asked people to justify their post with fact. Not so, with Lucas.

Meanwhile, back on topic, I just don't really see the point in massively bashing Lucas right now, or in bashing Rafa for playing & supporting him.
If Rafa was playing him consistently instead of, I dunno, Gerrard say, then people might have a point. But he isn't. He's playing Lucas because our other options in that position have either been injured (Aquilani, Aurelio) or are kids with very little experience and not necessarily up to the grade (Spearing, Plessis), and he's supporting him publicly because he knows the lad needs confidence and is going to have to play a role this year whether some sections of the fanbase like it or not.
Personally I'm not convinced Lucas will ever really come through as a genuinely good player for us, but I don't get the pathological need some of our "fans" have to get on his back at any possible opportunity, especially after a perfectly decent performance in our last game. Its like Kuyt 2 years ago all over again..... yes Dirk wasn't at the top of his game then but he wasn't responsible for every poor result, every misplaced pass and every war in the third world like some people seemed to think. I guess they just need a pantomime villain to get all worked up about. This is why we should have kept Pennant
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Its not weird at allOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostNot wuming anyone, crybaby
How can you possibly decipher if someone's critique of Lucas merits the 'justified' tag or not? Weird comments on your part.
I was not on about you justifying your comments. I was saying that the slagging off of Lucas in general was not justified based upon his performances from the pre season to date
Obviously I need to write full essays detailing every meaning of every word for you to understand

Right, so you were saying that slagging off Lucas in general wasnt justified - and yet, you said that, in reply to this question:Originally posted by Assassin View PostIts not weird at all

The question was a general one, about whether a poster can disagree with Rafa and be right. Why was your answer about slagging off Lucas?Essays aside, is it possible for a mere mortal poster on a forum to disagree with the manager and be right?
Yes or no?
Seems like the answer to a totally different question.
That's why i found it weird. You seemed to answer the question originally, and then decided that your answer was actually about Lucas.
