That’s his stats from last night, unfortunately it doesn’t show how many times he lost the ball (which he did for the first time after 5 seconds).

Having said all that I taught they were all shocking with the exception of Benayoun and Kuyt, but why does he single out Lucas for PRAISE?
Seriously how can you come on here moaning about Lucas' passing when Gerrard's was worse? Lucas got the praise I imagine because he dominated the midfield. He was the one that won the ball back after our shoddy passing surrendered the it all too often and he was the one that nipped their counter attacks in the bud.

I thought Gerrard played well. He could obviously play better, but I thought our worst player was Torres.

Those stats dont show how many times Lucas:

Broke up the opposition's play and won the ball back
        Retained possession under pressure
        Won a freekick for us.

He was very good last night. No Mascherano, so it was Lucas who took the 'destroyer' role and he did what was required of that role very very well.

How do you define well? He couldn't shoot straight and too many simple passes went astray at exactly the wrong time. He was on a slightly different wavelength for me. Still on the bright side he only has 3 games like that a season so that's one more out of the way.

That's a really useful graphic, which shows why Lucas is rightly being praised. Very good pass completion and the amount of balls won was not only highly impressive, but also needed.

And on another day you just know the Gerrard goals column would say at least 3!

Well he could play a forward pass and keep possession. It is allowed.

And Gerrard could learn to play the simple 5 yard passes that actually find their target...you know, those passes that are so easy, anyone could do them...apart from Gerrard last night.

Thought he did really well last night. Kept posession well, won the ball back at vital times and also showed good strength.

No, you're right. Simple 5 yard passes require a real talent. The 'simple' bit is a real misnoma.

Obviously, otherwise anyone could do it.

                          Reason 1
Rafa praised Lucas because he spent all of the game cleaning up after gerrard. He hardly lost a tackle, he won virtually ever header he challenged for. He had one miskicked pass towards Johnson and then chased the player down and won the ball, albiet he gave a foul away.

                          Reason 2
Rafa praised Lucas because of idiots like you
